Dawson

Michael R. Elwell, 60, of Dawson, passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, in his home. Born October 27, 1965 in Uniontown, he was the son of the late Allen D. and Gloria R. Mellinger Elwell.

A lifelong resident of Dawson, Mr. Elwell was Methodist by faith, and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Michael was a retired laborer from Local 1068 and later was employed by Frazier School District as a custodian. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Michael is survived by his wife, Pamela Tom Elwell, to whom he was married for 37 years; his daughter, Samantha Elwell and companion George of Dawson; son, Lucas Elwell of Dawson; grandchildren, Tobias and Penelope; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and James Stanley of Dawson; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph D. Elwell; two brothers-in-law, Stephen Varto, Samuel P. Tom Jr.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, April 16, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty Street, Perryopolis, 724-736-2515, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 17, with Pastor Chuck Jack of Perryopolis United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Mt. Washington Cemetery.
