Donald James “Jim” Hall, 87, of Adah, was called home to Jesus Sunday, April 19, 2026.

Jim was born February 24, 1939, in Connellsville, to the late David S. Hall and late Laura E. Layman Hall Bowers.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ina Clark Hall; brother, John Delbert Hall; sisters and brothers-in-law, Garnett Franks (Grant), Irene Norman (Richard), Louis Turner (Bill); and a grandson, Larry Boothe.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Hall, who never left his side; his children, Karen Boothe (Larry), Rodney Hall, Thomas Hall, Celeste Painter (Jason); stepchildren, Dale Kern, Kristy Gondek (Ryan); grandchildren, Timothy Boothe (Ashley), Jeremy Boothe (Diane), Rodney Hall (Misty), Apryle Garbutt (Kevin), Ashley Gray (Whitney), Payton Hall, Alex and Charlee Painter, Violet Kern, Colby Kern (Haley), Nathaniel Kern, Noah Kern (Tori), Tessa Kern (Daymon), Tenley Gondek; along with 10 great-grandchildren.

Jim is further survived by his sister, Linda Zeigler (Butch); brother, Delmas Hall; and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his devoted ‘puppy’, Hazel.

Jim was a lifelong member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God in McClellandtown, and wore many hats in service to the church: board member, Sunday school superintendent and teacher, Rural Rangers leader, bus driver, and sang in the cantata choir.

As a young man, Jim drove to Marshalltown, Iowa to attend railroading school before working in Edwardsville, Ill. He came back home to work on the farm, which he did all his life. He also was a machinist for many years. Jim also retired from the railroad and worked for several lines over the years: on the track gang for Monongahela, and as an engineer for both Conrail and Norfolk Southern.

His sweet tooth ran so deep, he’d never allow a carton of ice cream to go unfinished. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family will receive friends and family in Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 1711 McClellandtown Road, McClellandtown, PA 15458 from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 24, and from 10 until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, with Pastor Mike Cogley and Pastor Tim Tanner officiating.

Interment will be in Pennsville Independent Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
