Richard Allen Shulek
Masontown
Richard Allen Shulek, 82, of Masontown, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 2, 2026.
He was born Saturday, November 27, 1943, a son of John Sr. and Agnes DeMaske Shulek, who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert “Smiley” Shulek and Arthur Shulek; and sister, Joanne Marolt.
Richard was a member of the Masontown United Methodist Church.
He served his country with the United States Air Force.
Richard was employed at the Emerald Coal Mine Company, where he was known as the “The Mayor”. He was a proud and active member of the United Mine Workers of America and Fort Mason American Legion Post 423.
He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Nancy Keefe Shulek; his sons, Todd Shulek, Craig Shulek; siblings, Mary Shulek, John Shulek, Jr., James Shulek and Betty Fike. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the TERRAVECCHIA-HAKY HOME FOR FUNERALS, INC., 515 N. Main Street, Masontown, Wednesday, August 5, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, when a service will be held in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Masontown, where military honors will be accorded by the Masontown VFW Faith-Grey- McArdle Post 4585 and the American Legion Post 423 Honor Guard.
