John Bruno (Brunori), 94, of Smithton, passed away peacefully, Friday August 7, 2026, in Country Care Manor.

John was born December 5, 1931, in Smithton, where he remained for 89 years. He was a son of the late Felix Brunori and Mary Giacomini Brunori.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife, Marlyn Miscovich Bruno, in 2002; and two brothers, Felix and Frankie Bruno.

John was a member of the Uniontown Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he gained a big spiritual family.

Throughout his working career John was a truck driver and construction worker, but his true passion was helping friends restore old cars through body and fender repair. He loved going to car shows, especially Motordrome Speedway, where he spent a lot of Friday evenings. His other love was playing his Button Box, like an accordion, but with a richer sound. He loved going to polka festivals, and playing polka music with friends and family.

John was known for his giving heart, and would go out of his way to help anyone who asked him to lend them a hand.

He will be greatly missed by his family, extended family and friends, nieces and nephews, and Marlo and Mike Rafter, his caregivers. We will all miss Johnny’s Big Genuine Smile, leaving a beautiful memory of him in our hearts.

Family and friends will be received in the SHELL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, today, from 5 to 7 p.m., the time of service, with Mike Livingston officiating. Interment will be private in the Olive Branch Cemetery.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff of OSPTA Hospice Nurses, CNA’s and the Country Care Manor staff, for the good, loving care they provided to their “Johnny B” as they called him. The loving care he received from these dedicated workers the last couple of years is truly appreciated.
