Frederick A. “Freddie” Giachetti, Jr., 81, of Uniontown, passed away Monday, August 10, 2026 at Lafayette Manor.

Fred was born in Uniontown July 2, 1945, the son of Frederick A. Giachetti, Sr. and Emily Ciarochi Giachetti.

He graduated from North Union High School, Class of 1963. Upon graduation he joined the Army Reserves. He also attended technical school for drafting.

Freddie was employed with Uniontown Construction Company for a few years, Volkswagon plant in New Stanton, Strohman Bread Company, and retired as a “Bread Man” from Wonder Bread in Morgantown, W.Va. After retirement he worked part time at Ford of Uniontown, helping out when needed. He also taught automotive painting at the tech school in the evenings.

Freddie was a life long member of St. Therese Church, and was very devoted to his Catholic faith.

He was a member of the Uniontown Columbian Association, Knights of Columbus, where he was a board member and previous officer, Knights of Columbus bowling league, the Uniontown YMCA early morning group, Teamsters Local #491, and was a part of the “Chain Gang” working the chains for Laurel Highlands High School football games. Freddie was a die hard WVU football fan and Pittsburgh Steelers fan, as well as a NASCAR fan.

Freddie is survived by his loving wife, Joann Giachetti; his daughter, Gina Williams and husband Paul of Charolette, N.C.; son, Brian Giachetti and Cathy Darroch of Uniontown; grandchildren, whom he adored and couldn’t wait to talk to every week, Ryan Williams and wife Allison, Brianna Williams, Olivia Haverstrom and husband Luke, Cole and Chase Williams, and Tyler and Gianna Giachetti; stepdaughter, Tiffany Bowlen and husband Gary; stepgrandson, Zachary Bowlen; loving sister, Joyce Hughes and husband Bill; nephew, Brandon Hughes; niece, Alexis Hughes and boyfriend Aaron Maddas; sister-in- law, Marie Giachetti; and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Angelo “Angie” Giachetti; and nephew, Anthony Giachetti.

Visitation will be held in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Avenue Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401, Thursday, August 13, from 3 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 14, at 10 a.m. in St. Therese Church, 61 Mill Street, Uniontown, PA 15401, with prayers of transfer at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral home.

Interment in Mt. St. Macrina Cemetery.
