Donna Marie Smitley Lindsay died Thursday, August 13, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Born March 4, 1941, in Dunbar to the late Ray C. and Lela Smitley, she was a beacon of love and warmth.

Donna shared an extraordinary 52-year marriage with her beloved late husband, Harry W. Lindsay. Their journey together began in 1959, marking the start of a lifetime filled with shared dreams and unwavering support. Together, they built a loving family, embracing the joys and challenges of life.

As a mother, Donna was a nurturing presence to her children: Harry W. Lindsay II and his wife, Sue; Louann L. Pegg; and Dianna Lindsay and husband, Harold Shultz, Jr. Her love extended effortlessly to her grandchildren: D. Bradley Pegg and his wife, Kaitlyn; C.J. Lindsay and his wife, Tabitha; Daniel Pegg and his wife, Tara; and James W. Palmer. The laughter and joy of her great-grandchildren, Westyn, Marie, Jackson, Xander, Elsie Pegg, and Sabrina and C.J. (Jr.) Lindsay, were the light of her days.

A special thank you with lots of love to her caregivers, Kristy, Miranda and Janeen.

Donna’s family roots were deep and rich, with cherished memories of her late grandmother, Grace McIntyre Barnes; brother, Terry R. Smitley; sister, Marsha Bonk; nephew, Jeffrey Fields; and her infant daughter, Michelle.

Her legacy continues through several nieces and nephews, who all hold dear the lessons of love and kindness she imparted.

A graduate of Uniontown Area School’s Class of 1959, Donna started a family and later, contributed her talents to Giant Eagle Pharmacy, Lowe’s, Sylvan Heights, and County Market. Her work was characterized by her diligence, integrity, and the warm rapport she shared with colleagues and customers alike.

At the heart of Donna’s life was her family, whom she cherished above all else. She was a woman of immense compassion known for her loving heart and the warmth she extended to everyone she met.

Her interests in sewing, quilting, cooking, and baking were expressions of her creativity and care. Her blue-ribbon quilt stands as a testament to her skill and dedication, while her famed pumpkin rolls brought joy to many gatherings.

Donna’s life is a testament to the power of love and the enduring bonds of family. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her, a gentle reminder of a life well-lived and a love that will never fade.

Family and friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Sunday, August 16, from 12 noon until the hour of the funeral service at 6 p.m., with Pastor Valerie Stark officiating. Interment will be private.
