Stephen James Champlin, IV

Stephen James Champlin, IV, 38, of Collier, passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, in the UPMC Shadyside Hospital, following a long and courageous battle with melanoma. Born September 19, 1987 in Morgantown, W.Va., he was a son of Rebecca Braun Champlin and Stephen James Champlin, III of Uniontown.
Raised in Point Marion, Stephen was a 2006 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, where he played soccer, track and football. He also graduated from Fairmont State University.
Stephen was currently employed as an asset manager for Baker- Hughes in Mount Pleasant.
He was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius R.C. Church, and was very active as both coach and treasurer for the Fayette County Youth Soccer Club, where he enjoyed working with all the players.
In addition to his parents, Becky and Jim, he is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Hancheck Champlin. They were married July 21, 2012. Also two sons, of whom he was most proud, Abram and Isaiah; two sisters, Megan Cerullo (Justin) and Elizabeth Quairiere (Bob), all of Uniontown; his maternal grandmother, Betty Braun; his in-laws, Bea and Rich Hancheck, two sisters- in-law, Rachel Wise (Larry) and Christina George (Blair); a number of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bill Braun; and his paternal grandparents, Steve and Alice Champlin.
Friends will be received in the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion, Thursday, August 20, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 21, at 11 a.m. in the SS. Cyril and Methodius Church, Fairchance. For those attending, please gather directly at the church. Interment follows in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fairchance.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be offered, in Stephen’s memory, to the Fayette County Youth Soccer Club, 100 Virginia Avenue, Uniontown, PA 15401.
Parish Rosary will be recited at 3:45 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
