Gayford Kerns, 93, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, January 30, 2026.

Gayford was born February 9, 1932, in Petroleum, West Virginia, and later made his home in Uniontown, where he built a life centered around his family, hard work and kindness.

He was a man with a warm heart and gentle spirit who left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He was married to the love of his life, Faye Kerns, for 73 years and together they shared a devoted marriage. His love for his wife was unconditional and unmatchable and his family was the center of his world.

Gayford retired from Famous Supply, where he was known as a dedicated salesman. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time at Gabby’s Gulf Station, where he loved socializing and enjoying the pleasures of life. He was a welcoming man, gentle, kind, and always willing to share his contagious smile.

He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Kerns; two daughters, Cyndi Younkin and Patti Scalese; brother, David Kerns (Patricia) and family; grandchildren, Justin Younkin and Alicia Cole (Ben); and his cherished great-grandchildren: Carson, Colson, Benson and Faye.

Gayford was preceeded in death by his parents, Alice and Hobert Kerns.

Though he is gone, the love he gave and the strength he showed will never be forgotten.

To honor Gayford’s wishes, services were private under the direction of the SHELL FUNERAL HOME, INC.
