Ruth G. Sumey passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

She was born April 19, 1932 in Mount Braddock, the daughter of the late Alice Gildroy Turner DeVault and Grant Turner.

She worked as a waitress at Glisan’s restaurant when the first owner operated it. She then continued to work there many years after. She was also a cook at the Spear Convalescent Home.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her stepfather, Frank DeVault; husband, Stanley “Pete” Sumey; her son, Douglas Leroy Sumey; and her brothers, Robert “Red” Turner and Thomas Turner.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Joyce Ann Wolfe and husband Stan Wolfe of Markleysburg; her beloved grandsons, Stanley Wolfe Jr. and wife Sara of Belair, Md., Michael Cesarino of Uniontown, and Chad Sumey and wife Kayla of East Millsboro; her great-grandchildren, her pride and joy, Irie and Jake Wolfe of Belair, Md., and Douglas and Colby Sumey; her sister, Mary Lou Bates of Zeigler, Ill.; former daughter-in-law, Linda Malastino of Markleysburg; many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly; and the Wolfe family, with whom she had a special bond.

A special thank you to the nurses at Uniontown Hospital 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floor, the staff at Uniontown Healthcare and Rehab facility, and the staff at Fresenius Dialysis.

Visitation will be held in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Farmington, from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 7. Additional visitation will be held in the funeral home Sunday, February 8, from 12 noon until the hour of the funeral service at 1 p.m., with Pastor David Herring officiating. Interment will be held in Sansom Chapel Cemetery.
