Our beloved, Joan Louise Smith, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026. She was deeply loved and cherished throughout her entire life, right up to the time of her passing.

She was born on July 7, 1939, in Beaver Falls, to the late Sara and Leroy Liberty.

She was employed at the Houze Glass Factory in Point Marion for several years. After retirement, she went onto work at Wal-Mart, her absolute favorite place. She enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, and eating fast food. She also had a very special best friend, Doris, who she spoke to daily. All those that knew “Gram” loved Gram. She was our everything and will always be.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George J. Smith, who was the love of her life. They will now be together again. She was also preceded in death by four brothers: Johnny, Bucky, Ronnie and Billy; and one sister, Shirley.

She is survived by one brother, Donald “Butchy” Liberty (Sandy) of New Brighton; and two sisters, Donna Beckert and Diane Elko, both of New Brighton.

WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and until 9:15 a.m. Friday, February 13, when Prayers of Transfer will be said.
