Gary Richard Hayes, 68, of Perryopolis, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in WVU – Ruby Memorial, Morgantown.
He was born September 15, 1957 in Connellsville, a son of the late Windel R. Hayes and Mary Ann Haas Dill.
A resident of Perryopolis for over 30 years, Mr. Hayes was a member of St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church.
He served in the U.S. Navy, was a retired Hospital Corpsman, and spent time attached to the Fleet Marine Force in Okinawa. To the Marines he served with, he was ‘Doc’.
After retiring from his service, Gary worked at the VA Hospital in Oakland and enjoyed helping and being around his fellow veterans.
He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Marcia Winn Hayes, to whom he was married to for 46 years; son and daughter-in-law, Nathaniel Hayes and Kimmy Nguyen of Pittsburgh; daughter and son- in-law, Stephanie Hayes Levi and Nathan Levi of Denver, Colo.; three brothers and sisters-in- law, Mike and Darlene Hayes, Lon and Christy Hayes, Chris and Marla Hayes; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patty and Bob Acklin, Peggy and Donald Dye, all of Dawson; his father’s spouse, Jan Hayes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parent’s spouses, Mardell Hayes, Kenny Trump, and Robert Dill.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 27, in the PARZNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, Family Owned and Operated, 191 Liberty Street, Perryopolis, 724-736-2515, where Prayers of Transfer will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, February 28, followed by Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John The Baptist RC Church. Interment will take place in St. John The Baptist RC Cemetery.
