Robert Franklin Hixon, a proud Vietnam War veteran and member of the 65th Combat Engineers, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, at the age of 78.
He was born in Leckrone January 21, 1947, the son of the late William and Mary White Hixon.
After serving in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he returned home and was employed as a mechanic at Paletta Ford.
Robert enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, and was an avid card player.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Carol Durst Hixon; and his 16 brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Left to cherish Robert’s memory are his daughters, Cathrine Fyock and husband Troy, Christina Yatsko and husband Robert; and grandchildren, Troy Fyock, Jr., Montana Yatsko and Robert Yatsko III.
Family and friends will be received in the JOHN S MAYKUTH JR. FUNERAL HOME, 7 River Avenue, Masontown, from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 9, and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 12 noon Saturday, January 10, in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Becka Abbott officiating. Interment follows in Greendale Cemetery, Masontown, with Military Rites accorded by Carmichaels VFW and Honor Guard.
