Barbara Ann Krosni Painley

Barbara Ann Painley, 88, of Greensburg, formerly of Uniontown, passed away in Westmoreland Hospital on Thursday, January 8, 2026. She was born on December 4, 1937, in Fairchance.
Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Kathryn Krosni; her sister, Rosemary Westover; and her loving husband of 67 years, Elmer F. Painley.
Surviving are her six children: Kathleen Sandorf (Michael), Carolyn Brittingham (Kim), Joseph Painley and fiancee, Kim Weaver, Mary Beth Sharp (John) Ann Larochelle (Jim) and Jennifer Robba (David); 15 grandchildren: Jonathan (Casey), Jessica, Taylor, Eric (McKenzie), Megan, Erin (Bobby), Adam, Josh (Jessica), Andrew (Christien), Matthew, Jacob (Juliana), Allison (fiance, Denver), Sydney (Micah), Alex and Grace; seven great-grandchildren: Dominick, Catherine, Nicholas, Elias, Owen, Jonah and Cecilia; sister-in-law, Cecilia Sages; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barbara graduated from Fairchance High School in 1955 and devoted her lifetime to the service of God. As a young woman, she played the organ for St. Cyril and Methodius Church in Fairchance. She was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Uniontown, where she served as a CCD instructor, Eucharistic Minister, and prayer group leader. Barbara was also a member of the choir and participated in several organizations, including the Christian Mothers and the Jefferson Club, and volunteered with the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
She enjoyed working in various sales positions, especially for Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery. In her later years, she spent her time crocheting, reading, listening to audiobooks, and cherishing time with her family.
The family will receive friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, and until 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, when Prayers of Transfer will be said. Her Funeral Mass follows at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Evangelist Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown.
Interment will follow in Mount Saint Macrina Cemetery, Uniontown.
