Bobtown

Betty M. “Sis” Wanto McLaughlin, 91 of Bobtown, passed away peacefully in Ruby Memorial Hospital of Morgantown, West Virginia on Sunday, January 11, 2026.

She was born at home in Bobtown on Tuesday, August 21, 1934, daughter of John Wanto and Susan Montana Wanto.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charles E. “Elbo” McLaughlin on March 12, 2008; three brothers, her twin Bill “Sonny”, John, and Andy Wanto; two sisters, Dorothy and Veronica Wanto. Sis was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Sis began working at an early age at the Pittsburgh Mercantile store of Bobtown, she then went on to work at Hill’s Department Store of Morgantown and retired after 30 years of employment.

Sis was a lifelong member of Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic Church of Bobtown, She also was a cook for the Bobtown Senior Citizen’s Center.

Sis is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Dickerson and husband Warren of Bobtown; two grandchildren, Warren and Wendy Dickerson; a great-granddaughter, Nora Dickerson and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 16 and 10 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday when prayers of transfer will be said in the Louis E. Rudolph Funeral Home, Thomas B. Rudolph, Funeral Director & Supervisor, 15 N. Main St., Point Marion, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Matthias Parish, Saint Ignatius worship site of Bobtown, with Fr.
