Joseph R. Meucci, 77, of Waltersburg, went home to be with God in Heaven Monday, June 29, 2026.
He was born June 4, 1949 in Hagerstown, Md., the son of the late Armand and Elizabeth Reed Meucci.
Joseph was a graduate of North Union High School Class of 1967 and a 1969 graduate of New Castle School of Trades for Mechanics.
He worked at the Uniontown Post Office for 35 years, from 1969 until his retirement in 2004.
Joseph was married to his beloved wife, Joyce E. Leighty Meucci, of 42 years, July 28, 1984; their favorite song was, “You Are Always On My Mind”.
He was a member of Pleasant View Presbyterian Church, where he served as a trustee.
Joseph was a beloved husband, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, great-uncle, and friend.
He enjoyed working on cars; grass cutting, where he was known as “The Mow Master”; bowling, golf, professional wrestling; the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Pirates; and NASCAR.
He was a great neighbor and friend to all. Joseph would lend a hand to whoever needed it. He was a very kind- hearted and loving person and will be missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce E. Leighty Meucci; his sisters, Barbara and husband Carlos Reisen, and Donna Meucci; brothers- in-law, Joe Leighty and wife Karen, and Jeff Leighty and wife Beth; nephews, John Erik Reisen, Marc Andrew Reisen, David Reed Reisen, Evan Nejad, and Josh Leighty; and niece, Kelly Graham and husband Jarrod; great- nieces, Logan Reisen and Olivia Reisen; great- nephew, Xavier Graham; along with numerous cousins, friends, and his special buddies, Wayne and Brian Gillam; and his beloved cat, Fluffy.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, Tuesday, July 7, from 3 to 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Wednesday, July 8, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Pleasant View Presbyterian Church, 533 Royal Road, Smock, with the Rev. Laura Blank officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.
