Mrs. Barbara J. Nemchik, 74, of Lemont Furnace, passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Mon Health Medical Center.
She was born in Uniontown August 8, 1951 to the late Donald and Margaret “Peggy” Evans Triplett.
Barbara graduated from Laurel Highlands High School, Class of 1969. In 1972 she graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Nursing degree.
She married Mr. James A. Nemchik May 11, 1974; he preceded her in death December 23, 2018.
Barbara worked as a school nurse for Laurel Highlands School District for 40 years having worked at several schools within the school district, including George C. Marshall Elementary School, Clark Elementary School, John F. Kennedy Elementary School, and Hatfield Elementary School.
She was a member of Calvery United Methodist Church.
Barbara enjoyed Harry Potter, shopping, and traveling to NASCAR races with her husband.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Nemchik and significant other Brock Yagla of Lemont Furnace, and David Nemchik and wife Vanessa of Greensburg; and a brother, Bruce Triplett and wife Stephanie of Uniontown.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Lee Triplett.
Visitation for Barbara will be held in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Avenue Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401, from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 9. Visitation continues in the funeral home Friday, July 10, from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m.
Interment is in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Uniontown City Mission, in Barbara’s remembrance.
