Uniontown

Richard “Rich” Wolinski, 45, of Uniontown, passed away in his home Sunday, July 19, 2026. Rich was born in Mt. Pleasant August 29, 1980, to Rita Bealko Wolinski and Richard D. Wolinski, Sr.

He attended St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic primary and middle schools and graduated from Geibel High School, Connellsville, in 1998. After graduation, Rich attended Penn State University, Fayette Campus.

Throughout his school years and beyond, he was an outstanding athlete, participating in football, basketball, and baseball. Rich maintained his dedication to physical fitness, running, and weight training throughout his life.

Rich was a proud member of the Glaziers Union, Local 751, District Council 57. During his career as a skilled glazier, he worked from scaffolding and safety- harness to install windows in high-rise structures in cities across the United States, including New York City, Washington D.C., Boston, Minneapolis, Atlanta and, his favorite place to work, Pittsburgh. He was always proud to point out the complex projects he helped to build, and he knew his way around cities and towns everywhere because of his work.

He was a devoted and knowledgeable fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, and followed the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates throughout their seasons, no matter how disappointing the outcome. Rich could always make astute and informed observations about how our region’s sports franchises might improve their play.

Rich was deeply interested in history, geography, and travel, though he did most of his travel through work. He enjoyed reading about and watching educational shows about world history and early civilizations.

More recently, Rich became an avid outdoorsperson. He enjoyed trout fishing on Dunbar Creek, and hunting deer with friends and family.

Rich was intensely proud of his family. The loves of his life were Colleen Moyer Wolinski, his wife of three years; and his stepdaughter, Safari (Rich affectionately called her “Ruthie”) Moyer. Rich always sought new and surprising ways to show his love for them, and for his mother, Rita. One of Rich’s favorite traditions was devising creative scavenger hunts for Safari’s birthday celebrations, in which she and her friends gleefully discovered unexpected surprises. There could have been no more devoted master to his dogs, Romi and Moose, and cat, Sherby.

Rich’s enthusiasm for life, his passion for everything he undertook, and his unfailing willingness to help others won him friendships everywhere he went. Friends were precious to Rich, and every one of his friends felt that in the genuine concern and warmth he exuded. Rich’s infectious personality, quick wit, and his devotion to living life in fun and laughter now leave an immense void in the lives of everyone who knew him.

Rich was preceded in death by his father, Richard D. Wolinski, Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, Walter and Clara Bealko.

He is survived by his mother, Rita Wolinski; his wife, Colleen Moyer Wolinski; stepdaughter, Safari Moyer; parents- in-law, Ben and Kathy Moyer; brother-in-law, Aaron Moyer and wife Julie; nephews, Max and Sully Moyer; aunt, Mary Wilson; cousins, Eric Wilson and wife Sharon, and Christy and husband Miguel Eljaiek.

Friends will be received Friday, July 24, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Avenue Extension, Uniontown, PA 15401, where prayers of transfer will be held Saturday, July 25, at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist R.
