Stephen F. Leachman, “Junior”, 91, of Grindstone, PA passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026.
He was born on July 28th, 1934 in Whitney, PA, a son of the late Stephen F. and Martha Yobod Leachman, Sr.
He was a graduate of Brownsville High School Class of 1952. Stephen was a member of The First Christian Church of Grindstone, PA. Stephen was employed at Shumar’s Welding, Freuhauf Company, and retired from U.S. Steel. He served with The United States Marine Corps during The Korean Conflict.
Stephen greatly enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, hunting, watching the hummingbirds, and most of all, going to breakfast with his family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Jane B. Broadwater Leachman; three sisters: Patricia A. “Patty” Baranovich, Phyllis Bojalad, and Elaine “Betty” Schroll.
Stephen was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Stephen is survived by his only daughter: Tracey Shimko and husband Joseph, two grandsons: Matthew Leachman and wife Marti, Adam Shimko and wife Shanna, four great-grandchildren: Bryce and Parker Leachman, Ezra and Indie Shimko; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in The Skirpan Funeral Home 135 Park Street Brownsville, PA on Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor James Kitelinger officiating.
Interment will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park where Full Military Honors will be accorded by The American Legion Posts #940, #838, and #275.
