Margaret Agnes Syner
Uniontown
Margaret Agnes Yuhaniak Syner, 102, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully at home and transitioned to her heavenly home, June 6, 2026.
She was born February 18, 1924. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Cecelia and Thomas Yuhaniak; her husband, George; her brothers: Pete, John, Andrew, Stephen, Frank and Paul; sister, Anna Shushock; and grandson, Thomas.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: George (Terri), John (Patti Jo), Cathy Poninsky (Bill) and Joe (Connie). She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Jennifer Sybol (Jim), Michelle (Moyad), Henry, Amanda, Joey, Megan (Adam), John (Erin), Joey Molek and Abby Lake (Andy); great-grandchildren: Haylee and Ethan Syner, Holden and Macie Lake; and many special nieces, nephews and friends.
Before starting her family, Margaret worked behind the lunch counter at Kresge’s, where she met her husband, George.
She found great enjoyment growing vegetables and perennials in her beautiful garden. Fixing family dinners, baking pies, cakes, cookies and sharing them with her family and friends, brought her much happiness.
Margaret was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church. In her final years, she seldom missed watching daily mass, listening to the Rosary, and reading her daily devotionals. Her faith was very important to her, and she wasn’t shy about sharing it with others.
Margaret wanted to extend a special thank you to her devoted family and loving caregivers: Tammy, Donna, Sandy, Doreen, and Carole, in addition to the many nurses and aides from Amedisys Hospice, especially Lindsay, Torra, Janine and Pastor Ken.
Friends will be received in the Shell Funeral Home, Inc., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Avenue, Uniontown from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday; and until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, when Prayers of Transfer will be said followed by a funeral Mass at St. Therese Catholic Church 61 Mill Street. Interment will follow in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Uniontown Meals on Wheels or Amedisys Hospice Care.
