William L. Rozzell, Jr., 84, of Uniontown, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in his home, with his loving family at his side.
William was born March 30, 1942, to William L. and Phyllis Livingston Rozzell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Rozzell.
Bill was a loving husband, father, and Poppy. He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus 1275 Council, a member of the Hutchinson Sportsman Club, Amvets Post 103, Catholic War Vets Post 1669, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
He was also an avid golfer and hunter and in his younger days played on many ball teams.
Bill retired after 34 years of employment at the U.S. Postal Office.
He was a lifelong member of St. John Roman Catholic Church of Uniontown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Betty McDowell Rozzell; his son, William Joseph and wife Sadie; grandsons, Zane and Zachary Rozzell; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Rozzell and Mabel McDowell Brownfield; brothers-in-law, Clyde and wife Nancy McDowell, Thomas “Moose” McDowell and Lorie Schiffbauer Bender, Robert Collins; nieces and nephews, Kenneth Rozzell (Shelley), Holly Rozzell, Jennifer Rozzell (Bob Pessamato), James Brownfield (Jamie), Gary Brownfield (Ann), and Beth Ann McDowell Reizer (Steve). He is also survived by a friend who was like a brother, Tony DeCarlo and wife Barbara and their children, Dawn Hunt (Roger), and Amy Beth DeCarlo.
Friends and family will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, in the GATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 136 N. Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. John Roman Catholic Church, 50 Jefferson Street, Uniontown, Thursday, July 2, at 10 a.m. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the church. Interment will follow at the Mt. Saint Macrina Cemetery, with Military Honors.
