Richard Paul Walls

Richard Paul Walls, 87, fondly nicknamed, “Happy” by his grandchildren, slipped into the arms of Jesus at his home, Saturday morning, March 7, 2026.

He was born on November 8, 1938, in Uniontown, son of the late Arley E. and Mary Lou Jaynes Walls.

He was a 1958 graduate of North Union High School, and a member of the Rams basketball team.

He served in the United States Army, 1958 to 1961.

Richard worked for 30 years at Anchor Hocking Cap Plant in south Connellsville, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the AMVETS Post 103, and before his illness, he attended Calvary United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gene (Bucky); a sister, Betty Baugh; and brothers: Ray, Bobby, David and Donnie.

He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife of 61 years, Freeda (Toler) Walls; a devoted daughter that he cherished, Mary Ann (John) Conner of Mt. Braddock; the light of his life, his grandchildren, Brooke Leigh (Buddy) Franks of Lemont Furnace and John Calvin Conner II (Maria) of Fairchance; great-grandchildren: Callie Paige and Cara Nicole Franks, Anthony Richard and Nina Lucia Conner; a brother, Neil P. Walls of Uniontown; a sister-in-law, Joanne Walls of Smithfield; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Visitation for Richard will be held at the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Ave. Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401, from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 12. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, at the funeral home with Pastor Ryan Washabaugh officiating.

Interment is in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
