Lawrence Baran, 82, of Uniontown, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Lawrence was born July 11, 1943, the son of John and Susan Mayher Baran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Papula Baran; brother, John Baran; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Gurich Lizza.

Lawrence is survived by his daughter, Kelley and son, Timothy, both of Uniontown; sister, Carol (Michael) Cabot; sisters-in-law, Jane Kisak Baran and Maureen (Jules) Dill; several nieces and nephews; and neighbor, Mike Zavatchen.

Lawrence was a United States Air Force veteran, proudly serving our country from 1961 to 1965, mostly at Dover Air Force Base and during the Cuban Missile Crisis, October 16, 1962, to October 28, 1962.

He was employed by the United States Postal Service, retiring as a clerk at the Uniontown Downtown Station. He held the positions of Sacristan and Eucharistic Minister at the St. Mary Nativity Church. He was a member of the AMVETS, George C. Marshall Post 103 and Catholic War Veterans.

Friends and family will be received from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 15, with incense service at 4 p.m., at the Gates Funeral Home and Crematory, 136 N. Gallatin Avenue, Uniontown.

A funeral service will be held Monday, March 16, at St. George Maronite Church, 6 Lebanon Terrace, Uniontown, PA 15401. Followed by Military Honors at the church. Lawrence will be laid to rest alongside his wife at the Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the family to be used toward the charities of their choice.
