Sandra Lee Dils

Masontown

Sandra Lee Dils, long-time resident of Masontown, died Saturday, March 28, 2026, in Beechwood Court Lafayette Manor, where she lived for the past seven years. She was born November 8, 1934, the daughter of Robert Nicholson Dils and Edna Leona Wilson Dils.

She was a 1953 graduate of Point Marion High School and a 1956 graduate of Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing, where she began her 43-year career as a registered nurse. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1968 from California University.

After graduation she nursed at the Miner’s Hospital in Beckley, W.Va. before returning to the area and beginning 34 years of service at Carmichael’s Clinic. She retired from the Clinic in December of 1999.

She became a member of the Masontown Brethren Church in 1980, where she remained a devoted and devout servant until her death. She was a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the choir and Mission Class. Sandra was active with the prayer chain and was a loving and generous friend to her church family. She served on many committees and in various capacities including as deaconess.

Her community involvement included volunteer work at Friendship Hill National Historic Site, and she served as president of the Friendship Hill Association for several years. She also served as a member of the Masontown Cemetery Association.

Left to cherish her memory are her cousins: James Dils (Brenda) of Latrobe, Ronald Dils (Rita) of Greensboro, Barry Kerr (Donna) of Greenacres, Fla., Rudy Kerr (Caroline) of Mt. Airy, Md., Diane Watson of Point Marion; and many friends in the area.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Beechwood Court and Amedisys Hospice Care for their love and support of Sandy.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 1 in the BERNARD M. TOWNSEND FUNERAL HOME, 220 S. Main Street, Masontown, and Thursday, April 2, in the Masontown Brethren Church, 110 West Church Avenue, from 10 until the 11 a.m. hour of service. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery in McClellandtown immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in her memory, to Masontown Brethren Church, 110 W. Church Avenue, Masontown, PA 15461.
