Joanne Hughes- Snyder passed peacefully, surrounded by love, Wednesday, April 29, 2026. She was born August 21, 1950, in Roaring Springs.

Joanne was the beloved wife of Wilson L. Snyder; and a devoted mother to Brenton Bowser (Kim), Melinda Michniak (Dan), Timothy Bowser (Sandy), and the late Vanessa Smith. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Dakota Swearingen, Logan Michniak, Sasha Walters (Michael); and a cherished great-grandmother to Michael Hooper III, Avaya Hooper, Makaio Hooper; and other family members.

She is also survived by her loving siblings, Melina Swindell (Elmer), Lynda McManis, Deborah Bate, James Hughes, Duane Hughes; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Martin Hughes, John Hughes, and Donna Yeager.

Joanne dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She worked for many years as a cook, where she shared her love through food, and later as a home health aide, continuing her lifelong calling to nurture and support those in need. As the oldest of nine children, she naturally stepped into a role of care and guidance, offering love and strength to her family from a young age.

She was known for her generous heart, quick wit, and ability to make others smile. Joanne loved cooking for her family, was a devoted fan of Travis Tritt, and enjoyed spending time having fun and making memories, including trips to go gambling. She found joy in giving, and she never hesitated to help anyone in need.

Above all, Joanne loved her family deeply. Her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren were the center of her world, and she gave them a lifetime of unconditional love.

Joanne will be remembered as an angel on earth-kind, selfless, and full of love. Her beauty, both inside and out, will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

The family will receive friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 4, and from 10 until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, with Pastor Ken officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels.
