Clarence B. “Fat Man” Wade, Sr., 79, of Dilliner, died Saturday, may 16, 2026, in his home, following a lengthy illness. Born April 9, 1947, in Dilliner, he was a son of the late Carl and Anna Hilpert Wade.
He was a coal miner for many years, having retired from Blacksville #2 Mine in West Virginia.
Clarence was well known throughout the area for the large garden he planted every year, and the beautiful tomatoes he grew.
He is survived by one daughter, Carla Richter of Dilliner and husband Daniel; three grandchildren, David, Judith and Rebecca; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Wade, Jr. of Gans.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Smithley Wade March 24, 2020; and by two sons, Marlin Wade and Clarence Bradley Wade, Jr.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no public services. Arrangements are in the care of the RICHARD R. HEROD FUNERAL HOME, Point Marion. Private interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Taylortown.
