Howard Cecil Gordon II, affectionately known as “Howdy,” passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Born in Oliver November 21, 1951, Howard was the patriarch, the eldest and last surviving sibling of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Holland Gordon and Howard Cecil Gordon; brothers, Jim, Gary, Ken and Bill Gordon; and sisters, Diane Morgan, Helen Hileman, Shirley Gordon, Shelly Savage, Donna Tewell, Sheila Dressel, Joyce Beatty, and Linda Varndell.

A man of deep faith, a member of the Hopwood Free Methodist Church and a devoted provider, Howard leaves behind a loving family. He is survived by his wife, Tammy Gordon; and his children, Howie (wife Tami Cyr), Ken (wife Kari Sklenka); the mother of his children, Brynda; stepchildren, Stephanie (Bill Humbert) and Melissa (Barry Balchak); and stepgrandchildren, Lucas, Daniel and Cassadee. He is also remembered by his in-laws, Henry Varndel, Mark Morgan, Russell Beatty, Tony Carter, Tracy Gordon, Bucky Savage, Ralph Dressler; and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. He touched the lives around him through being a great listener and always lending a hand, or knowing who to call for help.

Howard spent over 45 years serving the community with a smile at Autoparts of Uniontown then NAPA Auto Parts in Uniontown. He possessed an enduring passion for automobiles, spending countless hours in his garage with a wrench in hand. Even as health challenges mounted, his enthusiasm didn’t, as he relished talking shop and maintained a sharp memory for specific part numbers.

The family will receive friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 20. The funeral ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 21, in the funeral home, with Paster Charlie O’Brian officiating. Burial immediately following at Maple Grove Cemetery, Fairchance.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
