James C. Yaksic

James C. Yaksic, 93, passed away peacefully Friday, May 1, 2026, in Brandon, Fla. Waiting with open arms to welcome him home were his wife, Shirley and son, Ken.
Jim was born and raised in Brownsville, December 18, 1932, and traveled the world as a career soldier before settling in Brandon with his family.
In addition to his wife and son, Jim was predeceased by his parents, Matthew and Isabella Yaksic; brothers, Ken, Matt, Tom, Albert and Bill; and sister, Nellie Newhouse.
Surviving family includes: sister, Florence Conn of Michigan; and daughter-in-law, Amanda Yaksic, who provided him with loving care during his last years. Many nieces and nephews, and their families, will miss their Uncle Jim.
Jim was a kind and generous man who enjoyed sharing stories of his many adventures with family and friends. He was full of laughter and mischief and always ready for a glass of wine with special friends, Leslie and Rick Matthews and Jim and Susan Whitehurst.
A military burial honored Jim for his many years of service to his country. He was laid to rest with his wife and son at the Florida National Cemetery.
