Lisa Murphy Crum

Lisa Murphy Crum passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2026, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer.

She was born July 12, 1959, in Uniontown, the daughter of Catherine Boone Murphy and Joseph “Jack” Murphy.

She was a graduate of Laurel Highlands High School, where she met her lifelong best friend, Mona Moyer Collins and the love of her life, husband Joe Crum. Together they spent 48 wonderful years, filled with laughter (and bouts of driving each other crazy, in a loving way). They had two daughters: Amanda (the serious one who takes after her mother) and Emily (who never misses an opportunity to make a joke, like her father.)

She went by many names – Buttons, LJ, Lil Lis – but her favorite one was GiGi. The most amazing, selfless mother became the proudest, most loving GiGi to her grandson, Murphy, who carries on her name.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father- and mother- in-law, Jack and Wanda Crum; her sister, Patty; brother, Mark; and brother-in-law, Norbert.

Left to tell legendary tales of our favorite lady are husband, Joe; daughters, Amanda (Marty) Boyer and Emily (Craig) Trippett; sisters, Becky (Jim) O’Neil, Sara Boskovich, Beth (John) Saluga, and Karen (Ron) Nicewarner; brothers, George (Sherry) Kuhta, Susie Kuhta, Keith Vetter, and Lee Kuhta; sister-in-law, Sandy Krantz; brother-in-law, John (Pam) Crum and their families. Last, but never least, was her Murph, who she loved more than anything or anyone. We all knew he was her favorite out of this whole crew (or at least that’s what Emily allowed him to believe), and he loved her that much right back.

The family would like to thank Jeanne Zavatchen, Toni Smitley, Lori DiCenzo, Jodi Johnson, Megan Raymond, Kris Taylor, Connor Wingrove, Theresa Cole, Dr. Scott, Dr. Wallace and the rest of the admin/district staff, teachers, and, of course, her Life Skills buddies, who made her love her job. You are another family and we appreciate you all so much.

Additionally, many thanks to the MICU/Palliative Care nurses, doctors, NPs, and oncologists of Ruby Memorial for the outstanding care, and making the hardest days of our lives as easy to navigate as possible under incredibly painful circumstances.

Visitation in STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Avenue Ext., Uniontown, Sunday, October 11, and Monday, October 12, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Further visitation Tuesday, October 13 in Cove Run Free Methodist Church, 345 Yauger Hollow Road, Lemont Furnace, PA 15456 from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a funeral service will be held in the church. Interment will be in the Cove Run Free Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend time with your family. Go to dinner, see a movie. Tell the people who matter that they matter. And in honor of our mom, get home safe and remember to lock your doors.
