Charles Peter Yezbak, Jr.
Uniontown
It is with deep sadness that the children of Charles Peter Yezbak Jr., DDS., announce his passing Saturday, October 17, 2026, in his home with his family surrounded by love, compassion, care and kindness, the same he shared with everyone he met.
To some he was Chuck, to others Doc, back in the day he was Yezzie. To those who loved him most he was Junior, Uncle Junior, Jido, Dad. He answered to many names throughout his life, beloved in every one of them.
He was born to Catherine Goldie Solomon and Charles Peter Yezbak November 21, 1942, in Uniontown.
Charles graduated from St. John’s High School in 1960, Saint Francis University in 1964, and the Temple University School of Dentistry in 1968.
He served as a captain in the U.S. Air Force at Langley Base in Hampton, Va. from 1968-1970.
He married Alice Ann “Appie” Doorley June 12, 1965, who he laughed with and was very much in love with until the day he died. Together they raised three children.
In 1970, after returning to Uniontown, he opened his dental practice, where he saw patients until 2024.
Charles, a man of deep faith, had a profound love for the Bible. He was one of the first extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion in the Diocese of Greensburg. He led Bible study at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church for over two decades. His favorite verse was: “We know that all things work for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
His generosity was limitless, helping people anonymously throughout his life. He was funny, warm, sharp and strong. Without fail he told his kids and grandkids each time they left the house, “Do not exceed the speed limit,” though to him the rules of the road were merely a suggestion.
He was proud of his Syrian and Lebanese heritage. No family event was complete without him holding the handkerchief as the leader of the dabke. He loved music, and he loved to dance-he delightful embarrassment he brought our mother with his slick moves, belting out Proud Mary at weddings.
An exceptional athlete, he loved all sports. For over 20 years he was the head coach of The St. John’s Grade School Eagles boys’ basketball team, also known as “The Hamar Squad.” He could pack a trunk with effortless precision, just the way he swung a golf club. At 78 years old, he shot his age on the course at the Uniontown Country Club. He loved his friends, most of whom he knew since childhood, meeting up every Sunday evening for coffee and Fridays at the Ye Olde Inn for a fish sandwich. He loved the beach, the sun, playing the lotto and finishing a crossword puzzle.
Our father achieved much during his 83 years, but he was happiest at home. He loved the simple things. Most of all he loved his family.
Charles is survived by his wife and best friend of 61 years, Alice Yezbak; his children, David Charles Yezbak and wife Melissa, Charles Peter Yezbak III and wife Lisa, and Catherine Keenan Yezbak; his grandchildren, Claire, Cecilia, David and Elias; his sister, Dolores Black of Willoughby, Ohio; and his brother, Thomas Yezbak of Hopwood; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Louise Chomiak and Julia “Judy” Ansill.
Charles Yezbak died the way he lived – peacefully, with courage and dignity.
