William Grant Milliron, Jr.

formerly of DuBois

William “Bill” Grant Milliron, Jr., 85, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 22, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. A quiet and peaceful man, he was born in his grandmother’s home in DuBois in 1941.

Bill earned his first degree from Clarion University of Pennsylvania, his Master’s from the University of Kentucky, and his PhD in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado.

A man of many skills, talents, and careers, he was a friend of Bill W.’s for over four decades. Bill’s proudest professional accomplishment, among many, was as the founder and first executive director of Another Way, a halfway house for women in early recovery, in Uniontown.

With a wry sense of humor and a keen view of life, Bill spoke little, but when he did his words were always thoughtful, kind and patient, while often powerful and for some, lifesaving. His life experiences were varied and ranged from teaching to being elected an alderman in Chicago, a vice president of academic affairs at a university in Chicago, owning a restaurant in Petrolia, and working for years with those with substance use diagnoses.

An avid hunter and fisherman in his younger days, some of his fondest memories revolved around visiting his son in Alaska for rugged excursions.

He was married to Nancy, his true love, and was the beloved father of Stephen (Randy), and stepfather of Samuel (Saundra), Milan (Meghan) and Michael (Danae); grandfather of three, stepgrandfather of nine, and great- grandfather of one.
