Elizabeth Jane Cebulak Baker passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026, at her home in Upper Middletown, Fayette County, with her loving family by her side.
She was born April 19, 1937 in Leisering III, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Zoldos Cebulak.
Elizabeth was a member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church in Uniontown.
Elizabeth, or better known as “Bubbie” or “Betty” was the rock of the Baker Family. She was the quintessential wife, mom, grandmother, friend, and role model. She spent her life making her home a sanctuary full of love, support and comfort. She would welcome all into her home and do the things she loved the most – provide a great meal, laughter, and great desserts. She loved to bake cookies, cakes, and especially cook meals around the holidays. She will be greatly missed.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George M. Baker, Sr.; great-granddaughter, Grace Baker; and her brothers: Joe, Harold and Ron Cebulak.
Left to cherish her memory are her five children, four sons and a daughter: George M. Baker, Jr. and wife, Lee Anne, Paul Baker and wife, Jane, Mary Halbrook, Michael S. Baker, and Joseph Baker and wife, Terri; nine grandchildren: George Baker III and wife, Kristi, Michael Baker, Jr. and wife, Valerie, Amber Baker and her partner, Adam, Caileigh Halbrook and fiance, Randall, Kyle Baker, Richard Halbrook, III, Broc Baker, Savannah Baker and Riley Baker; six great-grandchildren: Gianna, Alyse, George M. IV, Kolten, Aiden and Avery; and her brother, Chuck Cebulak and wife, Ruby.
A special thanks to Wanitta and to Bristol Hospice, Tracy, Celina, and Vera for their compassionate care that you provided to our mom over these past several years.
Family and friends will be received at the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, 35 South Mill Street, New Salem, on Thursday, September 10, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a Parastas Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, September 11, from 9:30 a.m. until the Panachida Service at 10 a.m. A Divine Liturgy will be held in St. John the Baptist Byzantine Church, 185 East Main Street, Uniontown, PA 15401, at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Father Kyprian Wojciechowski officiating. Interment to follow in Mt. St. Macrina Cemetery.
