David Stephen Bahuriak Sr., 78, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 7, 2026.
David lived a full life marked by courage, service to his country, devotion to his family, and loyalty to those he loved.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, David served his country in combat during the Vietnam War. He was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart. His military service was a source of great pride throughout his life and reflected the courage, strength, and sense of duty that defined the man he was.
David was also a proud member of the Freemasons and the Shriners, where he enjoyed the fellowship, tradition, and spirit of service those organizations provided.
Above all, David was a devoted family man. He loved his family deeply and took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and extended family.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Selma Erminio Bahuriak; his wife, Linda Huntley Bahuriak; his nephew, Paul Fullem; and his stepson, Michael Valentine Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Lowery Bahuriak; his son, David Bahuriak Jr., and his wife, Julie Liebman Bahuriak and their three children: Luca, Elena, and Leo; his daughter, Christina Bahuriak, and her husband, Michael Kolencik and their son, LJ; his sister, Diana Bahuriak Fullem; his nephew, Kenny Johnson; his stepdaughter, Amber Valentine and her husband, Richard King and their five children; his stepdaughter, Stephanie Kinzey and her husband, Cody Nicklow and their three children; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends and family in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. Additional viewing in the Chapel of Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery, 120 Main Street, Smithfield, on Saturday, September 12, from 9:30 until 10 a.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 10 a.m. with Carl Desmartin officiating with Military Rites being accorded by General Marshall Amvets Post 103 Honor Guard. Private Family interment will follow in Mount Moriah Baptist Cemetery.
