Susan Louise Herring Holly, 69, of Chalk Hill, passed away peacefully the evening of Wednesday, September 9, 2026, following a courageous four-year battle with cancer.
She was born August 1, 1957.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Nancy Herring; and her brother, Richard Herring.
She is survived by her dogs, Coco and Rusty; her brother, David (Connie) Herring of Uniontown; her sisters-in-law, Deborah Herring of South Bend, Ind., and Irene Holly of Coudersport; her closest friend and cousin, Becky McGarvey of Uniontown; aunts and uncles, Judy Van Bremen of Farmington, Dave and France Russell of Champion, Ohio, Harry and Judy Lee of Masontown, Palma Lee of Masontown, and Sandy and Les Double of Champion, Ohio; nephews, Tom Samuel (Julie) and Shawn Herring; and nieces, Colleen Nelson (JR), Aimee Herring, Ashley Herring (Brooke), and Amber Thompson (Toren), along with all of their children and grandchildren.
What a life she had! Susan lived without regret. She was generous, strong-willed, and always in charge, with a wonderful sense of humor and a voice and perspective all her own. Susan experienced numerous rugged adventures in Alaska that most people could hardly comprehend. For decades, she carried water and chopped wood, embracing a life that was anything but ordinary.
Susan did not boast, she was a person of action. She could walk the walk and talk the talk.
We will remember Susan as a truly unique and one-of-a-kind person. She lived life on her own terms and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Arrangements are under the direction of the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Farmington. In accordance with Susan’s wishes, all services will be private.
