Albert Britt Sloan passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2026, with family by his side, following a brief illness.

He was born March 3, 1950 in Uniontown.

Pappy Al was a graduate of Uniontown High School and Slippery Rock University.

He worked for the Uniontown Newspaper company for 32 years, retiring as production director in 2014.

He enjoyed his remaining years reading, hiking, golfing, extending his family’s genealogy, and volunteering at the Pennsylvania Room of the Uniontown Library. He knew how to fold a fitted sheet, had a great sense of humor, and a never-ending capacity for love and generosity.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Sloan, Jr. and Delaura Jane Britt Sloan; and his first wife, Nancy Louise Christie Sloan.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Regina Scarton Sloan; his brothers, James (Tedd) and Samuel; his children, Jeremy and companion Danielle, Matthew and wife Jennifer, and Mary Sloan-Burnett and husband Iain; stepchildren, Craig Schuessler, and Kim Kavanshansky and husband Mike; his grandchildren, Gianna, Stephen, Jacob, Alicia, Emma, Marley, Elijah, Callum, Abel, Xavier; as well as two beloved cats, Finn and Clementine.

He will be interred at the Sylvan Heights Cemetery following a private service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Uniontown Public Library, with designation to the Pennsylvania Room.

Arrangements are under the direction of the STEPHEN R. HAKY FUNERAL HOME, 603 N. Gallatin Avenue Ext., Uniontown, PA 15401.
