Bette Pegg Sefcheck, 76, ascended to a higher plain from her home Wednesday, September 23, 2026, surrounded her loving family and friends. Bette was born January 22, 1947, in Uniontown, the daughter of the late JD and Ruth Barnhart Pegg.
A lifelong area resident, Bette was a graduate of Uniontown High School, Class of 1964. She continued her education at Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing in 1981 and later attended Penn State and California State universities. Her commitment to learning and her calling to nursing shaped much of her life and gave her the opportunity to care for others in a meaningful and lasting way. She followed her calling to caring service through her many years as a Registered Nurse, primarily in the hospice field, where she said she found her heart.
Bette is survived by her sons, Christopher Sefcheck and wife Michelle of South Park, Jeffery Sefcheck and wife Julia of Scottdale, and Matthew Sefcheck and wife Heather of Uniontown. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Ryder, Ashby, Ava, Sophia, and Brady. She is also survived by her siblings, Jack Pegg of Ohio, Ruth Stansick and husband Donald of New Salem, and Rebecca Dicosimo of Uniontown; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She had multiple hobbies and loves, one of which was crocheting and knitting; she donated blankets to children, the elderly, and organizations.
Her second favorite thing to do was cooking and baking. She loved to make things for her friends, neighbors, relatives, and hospice nurses. This hobby was so inherent in her that she had earned the nickname “Bette Baguette”.
Bette’s family will greet friends Friday, September 25, from 4 to 7 p.m., with a closing prayer at 6:45 p.m. in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME, INC., 417 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, PA 15683.
