PAC releases Academic Honor Roll for Spring, 2008 semester

A total of 14 local athletes were named to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll for the Spring 2008 semester. Softball player Natalie Fisher (Waynesburg Central) made the list for Bethany (W.Va.) College, along with baseball players Eric Fudala (Laurel Highlands), Mike Klamerus (Brownsville) and Josh Lawrence (Jefferson-Morgan).

Saint Vincent College had three student-athletes make the list in Connellsville’s Ashley Benzio and Albert Gallatin’s Josh Bozek. Benzio was a member of the basketball team, while Bozek competed in track and field.

Connellsville’s Ashley Whipkey, a member of the softball team, was also honored.

California’s Marijo Bilitski, who plays on the golf team, made the honor roll at Washington & Jefferson College, as did Chelsea Cerini (Southmoreland) and Melissa Metcalf (Carmichaels).

Cerini and Metcalf both played on the softball team.

Melissa Cox (Jefferson-Morgan), who competed in track and field, and Andrew Spargur (Connellsville), who played baseball, made the cut at Waynesburg University.

Also honored was Waynesburg Central graduate Autumn Minor, a member of the softball team.

Westminster College had only one representative from the area in Laurel Highlands graduate Katie Molchan. Molchan competed on the golf team and is a Philosophy major.

Jared Hirtz (Albert Gallatin) was the lone area representative at Thiel College. Hirtz, a senior, competed in wrestling and majored in Education/History.

Student-athletes must earn a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.6 or higher during the fall varsity sports season to qualify for the academic honor roll.
