Leopards remain unbeaten with win over Falcons
The Belle Vernon boys did not count a score over 41 in a 199-212 victory against visiting Connellsville at Cedarbrook Golf Course’s Gold course Tuesday afternoon in a Section 2-AAA match.
Jordan Mocello earned medalist honors for the Leopards (4-0, 6-0) with 2-over 38. Seth Tomalski finished with 39. Jack Edwards shot 40, and Dominic Croftcheck and Landon Vaccaro both finished with 41. Trevor Kovatch’s 53 did not count.
Eli Armstrong led the Falcons (2-1, 4-2) with 5-over 41. Ethan Porreca shot 42. Derek Routzahn (44), Matt Firestone (42), and Hunter Konieczny (48) closed out the scoring rounds. Christian Burd’s 52 was not used.
Charleroi 218, Geibel Catholic 245 – The Cougars were tough at home on Mon Valley Country Club for a Section 8-AA win against the visiting Gators.
Levi Large had medalist honors for the Cougars (3-1, 3-1) with 5-over 41. Jackson Keranko finished with 43 and Jake Corrin carded 44. Gage Patterson, Kaden Woods and Ethan Hartley all shot 45.
Mike Miller was the low man for the Gators (0-3, 0-3) with 47. Sarah Konieczny shot 48. Seth Dolan and Aiden Holt both finished with 49. Gary Tarbuk closed the scoring with 52. John Hess’ 53 did not count.
Laurel Highlands 215, Albert Gallatin 226 — The Mustangs picked up their first Section 2-AAA win of the season with a victory against the Colonials on the road at Duck Hollow Golf Club.
The Mustangs improve to 1-2 in the section, while the Colonials go to 2-2 in the section and 3-2 overall.
Laurel Highlands’ Jacob Kalich earned medalist honors with 4-over 39. Tyler Cook shot 40. Sevi Vecchiolla and Nico Harim both carded 45, and Kayden Smith closed the scoring with 46. Ryan Revak’s 51 was not used.
Caeden Williams was the low man for Albert Gallatin with 6-over 41. Hayden Metts finished with 42. Trenton Clemmer (46), Geno Valenti (45), and Tyler Felio (52) rounded out the scoring. Paityn Stout’s 54 did not count.
Uniontown 214, McKeesport 268 – The Red Raiders breezed to a Section 2-AAA home win at Uniontown Country Club.
Trevor Uphold secured medalist honors for Uniontown (3-0, 4-0) with 5-over 40. Elim Martin shot 43. Brody Schiffbauer and Colton Mathias both finished with 44. Brayden Gmitter closed out the scoring with 46. Austin Thomas’ 47 didn’t count.
Brock Stephenson and Ayden Lipchey shared team scoring honors for the Tigers with 50.
Carmichaels 225, Bentworth 241 – The Mikes remained undefeated in Section 3-AA play with a road victory at Chippewa Golf Course.
Carmichaels improves to 3-0 in the section and 3-1 overall. Bentworth slips to 0-5.
Nathan Dursa was the low man for Carmichaels with 42. Connor Lapana (44), Zach Murphy (48), Aydan Bate (46), and Eli Hastings (45) also counted in the final score. Jase Zdravecky’s 49 was not used.
Trent Wolpink led the Bearcats with 44. Ross Skerbetz, Wyatt Snyder and Sam Wade all shot 48. Blake Reed closed the scoring with 48.
Waynesburg Central 211, Jefferson-Morgan 215 – The Raiders edged the Rockets for a Section 3-AA road victory at Greene County Country Club.
Jefferson-Morgan’s Urijah Teasdale and Waynesburg’s Chase Phillips shared medalist honors with 4-over 36.
Clay Wilson finished with 41 for the Rockets (3-1, 3-2). Dayten Marion shot 42, and Brendan Wood and Jack Shaffer both carded 46. Brayden Ellsworth’s 52 was not used.
Jarett Tretinik and Rykan Gustafson both shot 41 for Waynesburg. Aidan Titus (44) and Joe Kirsch (45) also counted in the final score. Dom Benamati’s 47 did not count.
Elizabeth Forward 198, Frazier 221 – Aaron Didjunas fired a 2-under 34 to lead the Warriors to a Section 8-AA home win at Youghiogheny Country Club.
Luke Boyer shot 39 for Elizabeth Forward. Julien Hredocik (41), Dom Donato (44), and Blake Hzovdik (40) rounded out the scoring. Mitchell Vuick’s 44 was not used.
Dylan Keilbach was the low man for the Commodores with 5-over 51. Aidan Hardy, Travis Smith and Eli Cernuska all shot 43. Tyler Monack closed the scoring with 41.
Girls golf
Elizabeth Forward 181, Hempfield 199 – The Lady Warriors’ Mya Morgan fired a 2-under 34 at Youghiogheny Country Club for a Section 3-AAA home victory over the Lady Spartans.
Sydney Boyd shot 44, Rylee Brawdy carded 50, and Annalise Didjunas added 53 for Elizabeth Forward.
Milana Yannascoli was the low golfer for Hempfield with 46.
Girls tennis
Derry 3, Mount Pleasant 2 – The Lady Trojans opened Section 1-AA play with a victory against the visiting Lady Vikings.
Derry swept the singles matches in straight sets.
Mount Pleasant’s Danica Trainer and Megan Bullock won their No. 1 doubles match, 6-1, 6-4. Chloe Zelmore and Hannah Shawley won No. 2 doubles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0.
