Cal women roll past Wilmington to give Strom 300th career win

Kennedy Bankett scored a game-high 24 points as PennWest California rolled past host Wilmington, 79-58, in a women’s basketball non-conference game Saturday to give Vulcans head coach Jess Strom her 300th victory.
Cal gradually took control, leading 21-18, 42-33 and 66-44 at the quarter breaks.
Alicia Young totaled 16 points and nine rebounds for the Vulcans (3-4) and Jalasia Hull contributed 14 points and seven boards.
Cal also got 12 points from Trinity Balog and five points, nine rebounds, seven steals and three blocked shots from Kimaya Williams.
Strom, the program’s all-time wins leader with a 300-103 record in 15 years, is the seventh coach in PSAC women’s basketball history to reach the 300 milestone. Her .744 winning percentage is the best among those in the 300 club.
California has reached the NCAA Division-II tournament 10 times under Strom who led the Vulcans to the 2015 national championship. She has been voted the PSAC West Coach of the Year three times.
Reynah Ratliff and TyKeisha Hill led Wilmington with 12 and 10 points.
