3-way race
DeHoet, Guesman, Pegg at top of TD Club through Week 7

Frazier’s Derek Diamond led all area players with a clutch, five-touchdown performance for 30 points in the Commodores’ key victory over Riverview Friday night.
That bumped Diamond into sixth place in the Herald-Standard Touchdown Club standings through Week Seven, but the race for the top spot has turned into a three-player battle.
Jefferson-Morgan’s Deakyn DeHoet scored a season-low one touchdown in the Rockets’ 35-13 loss at Bentworth as the senior was forced to play behind center after an injury forced quarterback Triton Farabee out of the game.
Farabee was taken off the field by ambulance. He reportedly suffered a concussion and is out indefinitely.
DeHoet, who scored on a 23-yard run, still leads area players in scoring with 144 points but his lead is shrunk to 16 points over Tee Guesman of Albert Gallatin,
Guesman scored 20 points with three rushing touchdowns of 19, 21 and 6 yards, and a two-point conversion in the Colonials’ 40-14 win over Hedgesville of West Virginia. Guesman is in second place with 128 points just eight points in front of teammate Adam Pegg.
Pegg scored 12 points on TD runs of 25 and 11 yards and is now at 120 points.
California’s Malachi Peak had a three-touchdown game in the Trojans’ 50-0 over West Greene with runs of 18, 1 and 40 yards to give up 84 points for fourth place in the standings.
Jefferson-Morgan’s John Woodward, who took back the opening kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown against Bentworth, is in fifth place with 80 points.
In sixth place with 78 points is Diamond who had 37 carries for 284 yards against the Raiders.
The Commodores trailed Riverview 13-6 in the second quarter when Diamond ran 15 yards for his first score of the day to pull Frazier even at halftime. Diamond then scored all four of his team’s second-half TDs on runs of 23, 2, 31 and 27 to help the Commodores pull away for a win they had to have to remain in playoff contention.
Southmoreland’s Jackson Mickens didn’t score in the Scotties’ 14-0 win over rival Mount Pleasant but still sits in seventh place in the standings with 72 points.
California’s Brandon Meier chalked up a touchdown run and a pair of two-point conversions against the Pioneers to move into eighth place with 72 points, two ahead of Waynesburg Central’s Teagen Crouse (70) who is ninth.
Rounding out the top 10 is Belle Vernon’s Curtis Wade, another three-touchdown performer in Week Seven in the Leopards’ 48-6 win at Laurel Highlands. Wade had TD runs of 1, 29 and 19 yards and a two-point conversion for 20 points, giving up 46 on the year.
California, Albert Gallatin and Southmoreland are the teams with the widest variety of players near the top of the standings, each with four over 30 points.
After Mickens for the Scotties are kicker Liam Smith (45, 11th), quarterback Dawson Wolfe (44, 12th) and Averyon Darnell (32, tied for 23rd).
Leading the way for the Trojans after Peak and Meier are Landon Abercrombie (40, 18th) and Adin Keyes (33, 22nd).
Following Guesman and Pegg for the Colonials are Roman Smith (32, tied for 23rd) and kicker Sam Evans (31, 26th).
It’s been the year of the kickoff return for local players and that continued in Week Seven with Woodruff becoming the second to return two for touchdowns in 2025 (AG’s Bobby Panos has three) and Southmoreland’s Cam Lee adding his name to the list with an 88-yard return on the opening play against the Vikings. There have now been 16 kickoffs returned for scores this season.
