Brownsville quarterback Kaden Wimmer fights for extra yards while Uniontown’s Gavin Radford (21) and Marcus Evans attempt to bring him down in last Friday’s game at Bill Power Stadium. Wimmer was one of four local players to score three touchdowns last week and moved into eighth place in the Herald-Standard Touchdown Club standings. The Red Raiders’ Michael Thomas also scored a trio of TDs.

Deakyn DeHoet maintained his spot at the top of the Herald-Standard Touchdown Club standings but finds a teammate joining him in the top three this week.

DeHoet scored one touchdown in the Rockets’ 26-10 victory at Burgettstown but it was a highlight reel 90-yard reception from quarterback Triton Farabee. That put DeHoet at 64 points on the season, 16 ahead of second-place Tee Guesman of Albert Gallatin.

Guesman exploded for a pair of long touchdown runs of 56 and 48 yards in the second half of the Colonials’ 28-14 win at Connellsville to increase his total to 48 points.

In third place after Week Two games is J-M’s John Woodward who was one of four players this week to ring up three touchdowns for 18 points. Woodward, like DeHoet, had a few eye-opening scores as well with a 46-yard interception return and an 84-yard run to give him 42 points.

Two of the other three 18-point performances came in the same game with Uniontown’s Michael Thomas and Brownsville’s Kaden Wimmer each running for a trio of TDs in the Red Raiders’ thrilling 34-27 win.

Wimmer found the end zone on three short plunges, two from 1-yard out and a 2-yard run, as he moved into the top 10 of the TD Club standings. He now sits in eighth place with 30 points on the season. Thomas had a pair of 5-yard runs and a 3-yard burst for his first three scores of the year to put him in a tie for 16th place.

Dawson Wolfe had the most impressive offensive outing of the week with touchdown runs of 2, 43 and 5 yards and scoring passes of 34 yards to Ty Whoric and 17 yards to Jackson Mickens as he accounted for 298 yards of offense. Wolfe is in seventh place with 32 points.

Carson Vanata had another strong week for Mapletown although it came in a loss to Chartiers-Houston. Vanata scored 14 points with touchdown runs of 2 and 56 yards and a pair of two-point conversion runs to give him 37 points this season which puts him in fourth place.

Waynesburg Central’s Teagen Crouse is in fifth place with 36 points after scoring once on a 2-yard run but he rallied the Raiders with his arm, throwing fourth-quarter touchdown passes of 34 and 15 yards to Jack Ricciuti and 33 yards to Jeffrey Blair in a 27-20 comeback win over California.

Frazier’s Derek Diamond is in sixth place with 34 points after scoring a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the Commodores’ 31-14 win over Carmichaels.

Rounding out the top 10 are the Trojans’ Malachi Peak with 28 points and AG’s Adam Pegg with 26 points. Peak had a 3-yard touchdown run and Pegg scored on an 18-yard pass from Bronx Jamison.

Belle Vernon’s Preston Rathway made the longest field goal among area players this season, connecting from 42 yards out, and that proved to be the difference in the Leopards’ 25-22 win at Central Valley.

The Scotties had a pair of fumble returns for touchdowns against the Mustangs with Luke Stinnett accounting for one when he jumped on a high snap that wound up in the end zone and Jake Hull brought one back 21 yards.
