On a roll
Rockets, Colonials riding winning streaks into Week Four

Albert Gallatin and Jefferson-Morgan are a pair of red-hot football teams.
Both are both riding significant winning streaks into Week Four of the high school season.
The Colonials (4-0) have won seven games in a row dating back to last season when they finished up with three consecutive victories. They’ll be looking to extend that streak to eight when they host fellow Fayette County independent Uniontown (2-2).
It’s the longest winning streak at Albert Gallatin since the school’s consolidation in 1987.
Don’t think for a minute that AG head coach Drew Dindl is looking past the Red Raiders though.
“No matter what our records are, we always give each other our best shot,” Dindl said. “We don’t take any game for granted, especially a rivalry game like this. I know there are a lot of athletes over there. They’ve got some good-looking kids who are capable of making big plays.
“We’ve got to play the same way we’ve been playing all year long with the same focus and intensity.”
The two played a high-scoring game a year ago at Bill Power Stadium with Albert Gallatin winning, 36-21. This will be the sixth year in a row they have met with AG winning the previous five.
The Rockets (1-0, 4-0), led by Deakyn Dehoet and John Woodward, host Carmichaels (0-1, 1-2) in a Class A Tri-County South Conference matchup which is one of two Greene County clashes on the slate.
Jefferson-Morgan has won 15 consecutive regular-season games and 19 of its last 20 under head coach Shane Ziats.
The rest of the TCS slate has California (1-0, 3-1) at unbeaten Avella (1-0, 4-0), Beth-Center (1-0, 1-3) at Bentworth (0-1, 2-2) and West Greene (0-1, 0-4) hosting Mapletown (0-1, 1-3) in the other Greene County meeting.
The Trojans will be the first true test for the Eagles whose four victories have come over opponents with a combined two wins.
California coach Ed Woods doesn’t like the way his team has been playing lately.
“We’ve had a bad two weeks and we’ve got to get it figured out quick,” said Woods, whose Trojans lost to Waynesburg Central, 27-20, in Week Two before edging Bentworth, 8-7, with a late touchdown and two-point conversion last Friday. “This is a crucial game for us for the playoffs.”
Class 4A Laurel Highlands (2-2) hosts Clash 3A Mount Pleasant (2-2) in the final tune-up for both teams before they begin conference play next week. The injury-riddled Mustangs have lost two in a row after a 2-0 start.
The Mustangs won last year’s thrilling meeting, 21-20 in overtime, after stopping a Vikings’ two-point conversion to end the game.
The teams have one common opponent in Ambridge. The Vikings nipped the Bridgers, 28-27, last week while LH earned a 12-7 victory in Week One.
Class 3A Southmoreland (4-0), which joins AG and J-M as the area’s last remaining unbeaten teams, has an intriguing matchup with Class 4A Ringgold. The Rams are off to a 3-1 start under second-year coach Robert Heller while Scotties first-year head coach Dustin Shoaf has yet to taste defeat.
Brownsville (0-3) is back in action after a week off. The independent Falcons host Conotton Valley (2-2) of Ohio after showing positive signs under first-year coach Cody Castor in a 34-27 Week Two loss at Uniontown.
Connellsville (1-3) is also at home and will try to right the ship after dropping three straight following a season-opening win at Latrobe. The Falcons face another stiff challenge in undefeated Morgantown (3-0) of West Virginia, which has out-scored its opponents 134-21 so far in 2025.
Jace McClean, one of Connellsville’s three head coaches, is looking at the big picture for his team.
“Overall, we are getting more experience every week. For some of our guys, this is the first year they’ve ever stepped on the field on a Friday night,” McClean said. “Our focus for the next couple weeks is to set personal goals and get better individually, then as a whole that will make us a better team in the long run.”
In other non-conference games involving local teams, Class 4A Belle Vernon (1-2) is at Class 5A South Fayette (3-1) and Waynesburg Central (2-2) travels to Steel Valley (2-2).
The Raiders opened Class 2A Century Conference play last week with a 35-14 home loss to Washington and will resume conference play next week with a game at Seton LaSalle.
The Ironmen have handed the Prexies and South Park their only losses of the season while their two defeats have come to unbeaten Westinghouse and highly-ranked Class A Bishop Canevin.
Frazier (0-1, 2-2) will be entering its second week of Class A Eastern Conference play with the tough task of a road game at top-ranked Clairton (1-0, 2-1).
All games are scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m.
