Belle Vernon’s Kent sets 2 school records

Belle Vernon’s Ryan Kent broke a pair of school records while competing in the Latrobe Invitational track and field meet on Saturday.
Kent took first place in the discus with a throw of 174 feet, 4 inches, and was second in the shot put with a heave of 54-4, breaking the old Belle Vernon mark in both events.
Kent also placed second in the javelin with a throw of 157-0.
His performance earned him the Field Most Valuable Player Award at the meet.
The Lady Leopards also earned a pair of medals at the competition.
Belle Vernon’s 3,200 relay team of Abby Hager, Bella Tartar, Brooklyn Steeber and Lily Walsh secured a second-place finish.
The Lady Leopards’ Courtney Martin took home a fifth-place medal in the 300 hurdles.
