Charleroi Legion rolls past Carmichaels, 13-3

Anthony Koziel hit a three-run homer and Sam Wade smacked a solo shot as Charleroi rolled to a five-ininng 13-3 victory over visiting Carmichaels in Fayette American Legion baseball action on Tuesday.

Brock Henderson was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs and Jaxson Klinger tripled, singled and drove in two runs for Charleroi (5-7), which also got a single and an RBI from Dylan Klinger and an RBI from Luke Henderson.

Charleroi scored two runs in the first and Wade’s homer in the second made it 3-0.

Charleroi went ahead 9-0 after ringing up six runs in the third with three of those coming on Koziel’s blast.

Carmichaels (2-9) scored all three of its runs in the top of the fifth.

C Baker hit a one-out single and Ryder Krieg reached on a two-out bunt hit. X Day followed with a run-scoring single. Two more runs scored when an error was made on Jordan Davis’ grounder.

Charleroi ended the game on the mercy rule with four runs in the bottom of the seventh. Two came home on bases-loaded walks to Luke Henderson and Jasxon Klinger. Brock Henderson followed with a two-run, walk-off single to center.

Winning pitcher Sam Wade fired three shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

Carson Vanata had two hits for Carmichaels. Jase Zdravecky took the loss.

THOMAS JEFFERSON 18, BROWNSVILLE 3 — Ryder Mulvihill was 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs, Hunter Horne had two hits and three RBIs and Jake Hynes doubled and also knocked in three runs as Thomas Jefferson (7-4) unloaded a 14-hit attack in a five-inning win at Brownsville (2-11).

Thomas Jefferson scored seven runs in the first inning and added three in each the second and third to go up 13-0, then racked up three more runs in the fifth.

Winning pitcher Easton Noderer gave up one earned run on two hits with four walks and eight strikeouts in twirling all five innings.

Brownsville averted a shutout with three runs in the bottom of the fifth which included an RBI single by Jonah Dillinger, who also had two stolen bases.

Hunter McDonald had the only other hit for Brownsville. Elijah Patterson was the losing pitcher.
