C. Harper Fayette Open begins at Pleasant Valley

There will be one change for the 37th year of the C. Harper Fayette Open which gets underway Friday morning.
The opening round for this year’s tournament will take place at Pleasant Valley Golf Club.
“We changed the order this year where Pleasant Valley hosts the first round and Duck Hollow the second,” said Justin Goletz who helps run the event. “Duck Hollow has been the first day for a good many years but we decided to switch it up for this year.”
The second round will be at Duck Hollow Golf Club on Saturday with the final round set for Uniontown County Club on Sunday.
The first group will tee off at 8 a.m. all three days, with Sunday being a shotgun start.
Other than the order of venues, the tournament is similar to the 2025 Fayette Open.
“Last year we did five flights and the high school tournament and the format is exactly the same,” Goletz said. “We have a 110 participants this year. We had 112 last year. We were full at 112 again but had a couple golfers drop out late.”
The field will include three-time defending champion Jeremy Enslen who is slated to tee off at 11:04 a.m.
Enslen beat Logan Voytish, whose tee time is 9:44 a.m., in a playoff last year to claim his eighth overall title.
“Between Jeremy and Harrison Laskey, who isn’t playing this year, we haven’t had a different champ for about 10 years now,” Goletz pointed out of the pair’s dominance.
As for the weather forecast, Goletz is hoping rain won’t be a problem for Sunday’s final round.
“We’re supposed to have two great days Friday and Saturday but Sunday is sketchy,” Goletz said. “There is supposed to be some rain but I’m not sure when. With us doing a shotgun start we should be done a little after 12, so hopefully the rain will hold off until after that.”
Playing groups won’t change until Sunday.
“The first two days everyone will be in the same group then the last day we’ll place them into their respective flights,” Goletz explained.
Goletz credited Dan Glover for helping organize the event.
“It’s come together pretty well,” Goletz said. “Dan has done a great job. He built a database of all the emails and tracked everyone down. We were able to send out information earlier this year than typically we have. We probably had 80 players, three quarters of the way full, by June 1st.”
Both Goletz and Glover will be competing as well. Goletz will tee up with the first group at 8 a.m. and Glover is part of the second foursome which follows at 8:08 a.m.
