Local roundup: Cal women end season with loss to Edinboro
Rachael Manfredo rang up 31 points as Edinboro put an end to PennWest California’s season with an 85-64 win over the visiting Vulcans in the first round of the PSAC women’s basketball tournament at McComb Fieldhouse on Monday.
The Fighting Scots (14-6, 18-12) jumped out to a 22-10 lead in the first quarter and pulled away from there.
Edinboro was up 38-22 at halftime and 68-47 after three quarters.
Cal (9-11, 13-18) was led by Hope Hawkins who totaled 17 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots.
Kennedy Bankett and Kimaya Williams added 11 points apiece for the Vulcans, who also got 10 points from Trinity Balog.
Taylor Blunt followed Mandredo in the Fighting Scots’ scoring column with 16 points and Carmen Vasquez added 12 off the bench.
COLLEGE BASEBALL
CHRISTENDOM 21, PENN STATE FAYETTE 10; CHRISTENDOM 15, PENN STATE FAYETTE 3 — Christendom of Virginia swept a doubleheader from Penn State Fayette in college baseball action on Saturday at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
AJ Segarra was 3 for 3 with a triple, double and four RBIs and Remmington Lessman was 2 for 3 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored for the Roaring Lions.
Fayette also got a hit and two RBIs from Jonathan Vasbinder and triples from Hunter Smiley and Alex Weber.
Lessman took the loss.
Weber had two hits and a stolen base and Smiley added a single, two RBIs and a stolen base in the second game for the Roaring Lions, who also got another RBI from Segarra.
Brandon Bieler was the losing pitcher.
