Falcons blanked by Burrell in PIHL playoffs

Seth Munda stopped all 19 shots Connellsville threw at him to help lift Burrell over the Falcons, 2-0, in the PIHL D2 playoffs on Thursday at cfsback Event Center in Belle Vernon.

Jared Well scored the only goal the Bucs would need with 10:15 remaining in the opening period. Colton Boda assisted on the tally.

The Falcons had a chance to tie when Mason Mazak was awarded a penalty shot with 11:33 remaining in the second period by Munda turned the shot aside to preserved the one-goal lead.

Burrell tacked on an insurance goal by Ryan Burkett with 9:26 left in the game. Dante Taliani and Dom Rosa assisted on the goal.

Nick Daniels-Nimick made 19 saves on 21 shots for Connellsville, which finished second in the regular season in the Gold Division with a 14-5-1-0 record.
