Lady Gators earn section victory

Geibel Catholic swept the season series with Leechburg in a 3-1 victory on Wednesday night at The Swamp on the campus of Geibel Catholic Junior/Senior High School.
The Lady Gators won the first set, 25-12, but the Blue Devils earned a 29-27 victory in the second set. Geibel won the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-13 and 25-12.
Neville Petrosky had 20 kills and 22 digs to lead the Lady Gators. Teammate Nolace Petrosky added 17 digs.
Mallory Clemmer had six aces at the service line, and Riley Knizner blocked three attempts by Leechburg.
Geibel’s Annabelle Kelly had 36 assists.
The Lady Gators improved to 5-4 in Section 2-1A and 8-5 overall.
CHARTIERS-HOUSTON 3, SOUTHMORELAND 0 – The Lady Bucs (5-4, 8-5) swept the Lady Scotties (3-5, 3-8) in a Section 4-3A match.

WAYNESBURG CENTRAL 6, BETH-CENTER 1 — Ava DiAlessandro was instrumental in everyone of the Raiders’ goals in a non-section victory at Waynesburg Central High School.
DiAlessandro had a hat trick and also assisted on three of her team’s tallies. Teammate Kolbi Rastoka had a brace and assisted on two goals.
Emily Rafferty also found the back of the net for the home club. Rynn Litwinovich added an assist for the Raiders.
Kendall Welsh scored for the Bulldogs (1-3-1, 3-8-2).
Keira Lamp made 22 saves for Beth-Center.
Waynesburg improved to 7-3-4 overall. The Raiders are 3-2-4 in Section 1-2A play.
ELIZABETH FORWARD 3, BELLE VERNON 1 — The Warriors scored two second-half goals to hand the Leopards their first setback in Section 3-3A girls soccer play at James Weir Stadium.
Belle Vernon (5-1-2, 7-2-4) won the first meeting, 3-1, on Sept. 17, but Elizabeth Forward (7-1-0, 8-4-0) took a four-point lead into the final two league matches this season with the win in the rematch.
The Warriors’ final two games in the section are at Uniontown (0-8-0, 1-9-1) and Thomas Jefferson (4-2-2, 5-6-3).
The Leopards face Albert Gallatin (3-5-0, 7-6-0) and Laurel Highlands (3-5-0, 4-8-0) in their last two league contests.
Elizabeth Forward can clinch the section championship outright with a win in one of its final two matches. It can also tie Belle Vernon with two draws.
Raegan Sobczak scored for the Leopards in the first half. Saylor Lee added the assist.
Belle Vernon keeper Skylar Salay made a diving save to stop a penalty kick.
MOUNT PLEASANT 6, EAST ALLEGHENY 0 – Faith Stuart scored two goals and combined with goalkeeper Addie Grenda on the shutout as the Lady Vikings beat East Allegheny (3-7, 3-8) in a Section 4-2A match.
Camryn Kapr, Callie Brooks, Ava Coppula and Kate Wisniewski added a goal apiece for Mount Pleasant (6-2-1, 7-5-2)
SOUTHMORELAND 4, MCKEESPORT 0 – Claire Thomas notched a pair of goals in the Lady Scotties’ non-section victory over the Lady Tigers (2-5).
Gia VanDyke and Maddie Bair accounted for the other two goals as Southmoreland improved to 5-6.
THOMAS JEFFERSON 10, UNIONTOWN 0 – Denika Bergman scored three goals for the Lady Jaguars (4-2-2, 5-6-3) in a Section 3-3A victory over the Lady Raiders (0-8, 1-9-1).
CHARTIERS-HOUSTON 3, CALIFORNIA 0 – Grace Littlecott contributed a goal and an assist as the Lady Bucs (3-3-3, 8-5-1) blanked the Lady Trojans (1-6, 1-8-1) in a Section 2-A match.
HEMPFIELD 1, CONNELLSVILLE 0 – Maddie Black scored the lone goal as the Lady Spartans (1-7, 2-11) edged the Lady Falcons (1-6-1, 2-8-1) in a Section 1-4A match.
