Waynesburg improves to 3-0 with win at AG

Ky-mani Sumpter scored four touchdowns, including two in Waynesburg Central’s 21-point second quarter, as the Raiders blanked host Albert Gallatin, 35-0, in a non-conference match-up of two area football teams Friday night.

Waynesburg improved to 3-0 with the victory while the Colonials fell to 1-2.

Sumpter scored on runs of 9 and 4 yards in the second quarter, 1 yard in the third quarter and 15 yards in the fourth quarter.

Sumpter’s first TD opened the scoring with 10 minutes left in the second.

Teagan Crouse’s 12-yard touchdown pass to Jack Ricciuti with 4:39 left in the quarter made it 14-0. Sumpter’s second TD came just 46 seconds before halftime.

Roman Smith led Albert Gallatin with 14 carries for 84 yards. Colonials quarterback Bronx Jamison added 48 rushing yards and completed his only pass for 28 yards.

Nate Ricciuti was 5 for 5 on extra-point kicks for the Raiders.

BETH-CENTER 46, LEECHBURG 13 — DeSean Whipkey rang up four touchdowns and Enzo Brown added three scores to help the Bulldogs stay undefeated at 3-0 with a non-conference win over Leechburg.

Whipkey opened the scoring with an 87-yard touchdown run in the first quarter with Hunter Bobbs adding the extra point.

Leechburg answered with Jason Vargo’s 27-yard TD pass to Dylan Whitlinger and Vargo’s kick to tie it at 7-7.

Beth-Center would score the next four touchdowns of the first half to take a commanding 33-7 lead.

Brown’s 69 yard TD run gave B-C a 13-7 advantage after one quarter.

Whipkey scored on a 1-yard run and a 34-yard pass from Chase Bebout sandwiched around a 2-yard touchdown run by Brown in the second quarter.

Bebout tossed a 31-yard touchdown pass to Whipkey to put coach Tim Trump’s Bulldogs ahead 39-7 in the third quarter.

Vargo and Whitlinger teamed up again for Leechburg (0-3) on a 66-yard scoring pass to get the visitors within 39-14.

Brown capped the scoring later in the third quarter with a 13-yard touchdown run.

MONESSEN 20, FRAZIER 14 — Kaiser Payne’s 80-yard touchdown pass to Kayden Kolbeck in the fourth quarter lifted the host Greyhounds over the Commodores in a non-conference clash.

Payne connected on 9 of 21 passes for 187 yards and all three of Monessen’s TDs.

Brady Secrest’s 20-yard TD pass to Nico Anderson and Owen Searcy’s extra point earlier in the quarter had given Frazier (1-2) a 14-12 lead.

After a scoreless first quarter, Secrest gave the Commodores the lead in the second with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Brank Alekson. Searcy’s extra point made it 7-0.

Jay’veyon Jeffries hauled in a 38-yard TD pass from Payne later in the quarter but the two-point conversion run was stopped by Frazier, which took a 7-6 lead into halftime.

Payne’s 20-yard scoring pass to Jeffries in the third quarter gave unbeaten Monessen (3-0) a 12-7 advantage.

Kolbeck had two catches for 74 yards.

BELLE VERNON 19, WEST MIFFLIN 12 — Jace Gedekoh answered a huge play by the Titans with a clinching 10-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to give the Leopards (2-1) the win in a closely fought non-conference game.

West Mifflin took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on Armand Hill’s 68-yard run but Gedekoh’s 57-yard TD pass to Luca Ghilani in the second quarter tied it at 6-6.

Gedekoh’s 9-yard touchdown run and Landon Bell’s extra point put Belle Vernon ahead 13-6 in the third quarter.

Hill exploded on a 90-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter to pull West Mifflin (1-2) within one point but the extra point was missed.

Gedekoh’s second TD bumped the margin up to seven points and the Leopards hung on from there.

Gedekoh, who figured in on all three of Belle Vernon’s scores, completed 9 of 13 passes for 134 yards, including three to Ghilani for 93 yards. Ghilani also had an interception. David Bergstedt led the Leopards’ defense with 10 tackles.

CARLYNTON 63, BROWNSVILLE 14 — The Cougars (2-1) jumped out to leads of 34-6 after one quarter and 55-6 at halftime en route to the non-conference win over the visiting Falcons (0-3).

Silas Patterson scored both of Brownsville’s touchdowns on a 13-yard pass from Jax Patterson in the first quarter and a 65-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter. Cynseir Douglass added a two-point conversion run after the second score.

GREENSBURG CENTRAL CATHOLIC 41, CARMICHAELS 8 — The Centurions gradually pulled away for a non-conference victory at Carmichaels.

GCC (2-1) led 14-0 after the first quarter, 21-0 at halftime and 41-0 after three quarters.

The Mikes (1-2) averted the shutout thanks to Job Smith’s 4-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion run in the fourth quarter.

CHARTIERS-HOUSTON 63, JEFFERSON-MORGAN 6 — The Bucs (1-2) led 7-0 after the first quarter then exploded for 42 points in the second in cruising to a non-conference win over the visiting Rockets (0-3).

Jefferson-Morgan’s lone score came on Liam Rogers’ 90-yard kickoff return in the second quarter with Logan Yeck adding the extra point.

MCGUFFEY 48, WEST GREENE 0 — The Highlander defeated the visiting Pioneers with a dominating performance.

McGuffey (2-1) led 20-0 after the first quarter, 34-0 at halftime and 48-0 after three quarters.

Joel Rizor led West Greene (1-2) with 12 carries for 88 yards.

SOUTH ALLEGHENY 41, MOUNT PLEASANT 3 — The Vikings (2-1) took a 3-0 lead on Tyke Snyder’s 26-yard field goal in the first quarter but the Gladiators took control from there in claiming a non-conference victory.

South Allegheny (1-2) led 7-3 after the first quarter, 13-3 at halftime and 28-3 after three quarters.

SERRA CATHOLIC 54, MAPLETOWN 14 — The Maples jumped out to a 6-0 lead on Carson Vanata’s 42-yard touchdown run in the first quarter but the host Eagles dominated the rest of the way.

Serra (1-2) led 21-6 after the first quarter, 40-6 at halftime and 47-6 after three quarters.

Mapletown (0-3) got a 14-yard touchdown run from quarterback Tyler Dusenberry in the fourth quarter with Kaleb Evosevich running in the two-point conversion.

Vanata led the Maples with 16 carries for 120 yards.
