Frazier rolls past Mapletown in volleyball

Frazier rolled to a 3-0 victory over visiting Mapletown by scores of 25-10, 25-11 and 25-19 in Section 4-2A girls volleyball action on Thursday.
Allie Monack had seven kills and 22 service points for the Lady Commodores, who also got eight kills from Gionna Rumbaugh, 10 assists from Morgan Fisher, 10 service points from Lola Marish and three digs from Addison Hiles.
Sophia Vanata had three kills and two aces and Bella Greenwood had three kills and two blocks for the Lady Maples (0-3, 1-6), who also got three assists and three aces from Lily Hawk, five digs from Leah Williamson and four assists and two aces from Leona Liggett.
ST. JOSEPH 3, GEIBEL CATHOLIC 1 – The Lady Gator took the first set, 25-18, but St. Joseph won the next three, 25-14, 25-23 and 25-14, to earn the Section 2-A victory.
Neville Petrosky had 10 kills and four blocks for Geibel, which also got 25 assists from Annabelle Kelly, eight kills from Mallory Clemmer and 14 digs and four aces from Nolace Petrosky.
WAYNESBURG CENTRAL 3, WASHINGTON 0 – Railey Bochna had 14 kills and nine digs and Chatham Knight had 29 assists and three digs as the Lady Raiders cruised to a non-section win over the Lady Prexies.
Scores were 25-15, 25-8 and 25-16.
Emily Rafferty contributed nine kills, four digs and three aces for unbeaten Waynesburg (6-0), which also got 11 kills, four digs and three aces from Harper Grimes and 13 digs and three aces from Lelia McCollumn.
INDIANA 3, ALBERT GALLATIN 0 – The Lady Indians swept teh Lady Colonials in a Section 2-5A match by scores of 25-15, 25-15 andf 25-16.
Paityn Goletz had three kills and Gabby Penrose had an ace for Albert Gallatin.
BROWNSVILLE 3, SOUTHMOPELAND 1 – Abigayle Thomas registered 15 kills and four blocks and Aijanae Foster contributed 18 kills in the Lady Falcons’ Section 4-3A victory over Southmoreland.
Scores were 25-20, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-16.
Ari Johnson had 32 assists for Brownsville (3-2, 3-2), which also got 25 digs from Ashley Evanchak and nine service points from Riley Rohland.
BELLE VERNON 3, LAUREL HIGHLANDS 0 – The Lady Leopards triumphed over the Fillies in a Section 2-4A match by scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-16.
Abby Nickolls had 19 assists and five aces for Belle Vernon (2-2, 2-2), which also got nine kills from Evelyn Matthews and 15 digs from Mailey Hayes.
CONNELLSVILLE 3, UNIONTOWN 2 – The Lady Falcons survived a five-match Section 2-5A battle with the Lady Raiders, winning by scores of 25-23, 26-28, 16-25, 25-20 and 15-13.

LIGONIER VALLEY 5, BROWNSVILLE 1 – The Rams defeated the Falcons in a Section 5-2A match.
Brandon Escamilla notched the only goal for Brownsville on an assist from Noah Fitzgerald. Camden Kline made 15 saves.
CARLYNTON 6, BETH-CENTER 5 – The Cougars edged the Bulldogs in a Section 2-A match.
Parker Amos scored five goals with one assist for Beth-Center with also got a goal and three assists from Ryder Roule.
MOUNT PLEASANT 1, YOUGH 0 – Tyke Snyder scored the lone goal as the Vikings pulled out a Section 5-2A win against the Cougars.
Lukas Showman assisted on the goal and goaltender Grayson Gardner registered the shutout.
BELLE VERNON 4, SOUTHMORELAND 0 – Jordan Jerome, Anthony Sawa and Jess Sobczak scored second-half goals as the Leopards (5-0, 7-0-1) pulled away for a Section 5-2A win over the Scotties (1-3, 1-5).
Jerome had the only goal of the first half.
HEMPFIELD 7, CONNELLSVILLE 2 – The Falcons lost to the Spartans in a Section 1-4A match.
RINGGOLD 6, ALBERT GALLATIN 0 – The Rams (2-0-1, 4-1-1) blanked the Colonials (0-4, 2-5) in a Section 2-3A match.
THOMAS JEFFERSON 6, LAUREL HIGHLANDS 1 – Roman George scored the only goal for the Mustangs (1-3, 1-5) in a Section 2-3A loss to the Jaguars (2-1, 3-5-1).
TRINITY 6, UNIONTOWN 1 – The Hillers (2-0-1, 2-0-3) knocked off the Red Raiders (2-1, 4-2) in Section 2-3A match.
GIRLS SOCCER
BELLE VERNON 3, ELIZABETH FORWARD 1 – Skylar Salay stopped 11 of 13 shots as the Lady Leopards triumphed over the Lady Warriors in Section 3-3A match.
Jordyn McDowell, Rory Bastedo and Payton Walsh had the goals for Belle Vernon (2-0-1) which moved into first place with the victory. Raegan Sobczak and Ali Watson each had one assist.
BOYS GOLF
WAYNESBURG CENTRAL 210, BROWNSVILLE 248 – Ryan Midla took medalist honors with a 2-over-par 40 as the Raiders topped the host Falcons in a Section 3-2A match at Nemacolin Golf Course.
Jarett Tretinik carded a 41 for Waynesburg and was followed by Cole Headlee (42), Lucas Slifko (43) and Rykan Gustafson (44).
Ava Rohland and Carson Varndell each shot a 47 to pace Brownsville, which also got a 48 from Dom Capan and a 53 from both Adam Vojacek and Connor Brown.
BELLE VERNON 210, ALBERT GALLATIN 218 – Alex Quiggle, Luke Edwards and Ryder Schmidt each shot a 41 in the Leopards’ Section 2-3A victory over the visiting Colonials at Cedarbrook’s Gold Course.
Zach Plymire (43) and Gino Scalise (44) rounded out the scoring for Belle Vernon (4-7, 4-8).
Garrett Snyder and Tyler Felio were the top golfers for Albert Gallatin (2-10, 2-11) each with a 42. They were followed by Gianni Paoli and Clay Smith who both carded a 43 and Cami Williams who shot a 48.
MOUNT PLEASANT 226, JEANNETTE 255 – Austyn Gross turned in a 38 as the Vikings beat the Jayhawks in a Section 2-2A match at Greensburg County Club.
Also scoring for Mount Pleasant were Ezra Bowman with a 45, Trever Gonofsky with a 47 and Hunter Snyder and Quinn Parker each with a 48.
Dominico Ponzetti and Killian Yargeau both had a 49 for Jeannette.
MCGUFFEY 215, CARMICHAELS 221 – The Mikes’ Eli Hastings garnered medalist honors with an even-par 37 but it wasn’t enough as the visiting unbeaten Highlanders took the Section 3-2A match at Carmichaels Golf Course.
Josh Rusmisel and Max Mezyk each carded a 39 to lead McGuffey (12-0, 13-0), which also got a 40 from Landon Hatfield, a 38 from Noah Sibert and a 49 from Logan Hughes.
Following Hastings for Carmichaels (6-5, 6-5) were Connor Lapana (39), Jayden Kerley (44), Joby Pratt (50) and Anthony Post (51).
CHARLEROI 196, FRAZIER 212 – Luke Henderson was medalist with a 37 in the Cougars’ Section 8-2A victory over the host Commodores at Linden Hall.
Levi Large shot a 38, Bobby Lemley turned in a 39 and Blake Koteles and Aiden Zippay both carded a 41 for Charleroi (10-2, 12-3).
Caden Biddle led Frazier (6-6, 7-7) with a 40, John Sinchar and Tyler Jerico both shot 41, Garret Seich had a 44 and Logan Solomon carded a 46 for Frazier.
BETH-CENTER 217, BENTWORTH 250 – Austin Kurowski shot a 3-over-par 38 in the Bulldogs’ Section 3-2A win over the Bearcats at Chippewa Golf Course.
Also scoring for Beth-Center were Parker Amos (40), Wes Bebout (42), Ryan Krosko (48) and Greyson Selesto (49).
David Miller’s 43 led the way for Bentworth.
GIRLS GOLF
MOUNT PLEASANT 189, LIGONIER VALLEY 229 – Ally Christener and Victoria Tepper each shot 45 in the Lady Vikings’ Section 1-2A win over the Lady Rams.
Layla Gratzinger and Morgan Miller carded a 49 and 50, respectively, to round out the scoring for Mount Pleasant (7-4, 10-5).
Ruby Smith led Ligonier Valley with a 54.
