Lady Colonials fend off Connellsville in volleyball

Albert Gallatin fended off visiting Connellsville, 3-0, in a tightly fought Section 2-5A girls volleyball match on Tuesday.
Scores were 25-22, 25-22 and 26-24.
Gabby Penrose rang up 17 kills, 10 digs and two aces to lead the way for the Lady Colonials.
Albert Gallatin also got 15 assists, 16 digs and seven aces from Riylee Abel and nine kills from Paityn Goletz.
FRAZIER 3, BROWNSVILLE 0 — Morgan Fisher rang up 12 kills and 25 assists and Allie Monack had 23 kills as the Lady Commodores triumphed over the Lady Falcons in a non-section match.
Scores were 25-20, 25-21 and 25-21.
Addison Hiles contributed 13 digs and eight service points for Frazier (8-2), which also got seven digs from Lola Marish, six service points from Emme Travalena and four blocks from Mia West.
Riley Rohland racked up five kills and seven digs and Abigayle Thomas chipped in eight kills and two blocks for Brownsville (6-3), which also got 17 assists and seven service points from Ari Johnson, six kills and three blocks from Amizhe Morre and 10 digs from Brooke Walters.
WAYNESBURG CENTRAL 3, CHARLEROI 0 — Emily Rafferty rang up 10 kills, 12 digs and four aces in the undefeated Lady Raiders’ Section 4-3A sweep of the Lady Cougars.
Scores were 25-12, 25-12 and 25-16.
Chatham Knight contributed 26 assists and two digs and Railey Bochna chipped in seven kills and seven digs for Waynesburg (6-0, 9-0), whih also got six kills, three digs and two aces from Harper Grimes, eight digs and four aces from Lelia McCollum and five kills from Emma Blair.
BELLE VERNON 3, ELIZABETH FORWARD 1 — Abby Nickolls had 12 kills, 28 assists and five aces as the Lady Leopards topped the Lady Warriors (2-5, 2-9) in a Section 2-4A match.
Scores were 25-16, 25-9, 21-25 and 25-22.
Victoria Alexander notched 11 kills, Mailey Haynes had 22 digs and Adriana Mochnaly contributed 12 digs and three aces for Belle Vernon (5-2, 7-3).
CARMICHAELS 3, MAPLETOWN 0 — Brenna Walker had four kills, two blocks and two aces as the Lady Mikes swept the Lady Maples (0-6, 1-9) in a Section 4-2A match.
Emma Arbogast had five kills and Amelia Wiles and Cara Jones added four kills each for Carmichaels (3-3, 5-4), which also got eight assists and four aces from Avery Voithofer, 11 digs and two aces from Kenlee Machesky, seven assists and two aces from Reese Marzo and 10 digs from Ke’Lani Chun.
LATROBE 3, UNIONTOWN 0 — The Lady Wilcats defeated the Lady Raiders in a Section 2-5A match.
BETH-CENTER 3, CALIFORNIA 1 — The Lady Bulldogs triumphed over the Lady Trojans in a Section 4-2A match.

BELLE VERNON 10, LIGONIER VALLEY 1 — Gavin Metzger had three goals and an assist and Jesse Sobczak also turned in a hat trick as the Leopards pounced all over the Rams (1-7, 2-7) in a Section 5-2A match.
Belle Vernon (7-0, 9-0-1) also got a goal and four assists from Jordan Jerome and goals from Tyler Perozzi, Anthony Sawa, Chris Showman and Carter Schultz. Nate Stangroom and Ayush Dahal both added one assist.
MOUNT PLEASANT 4, SOUTHMORELAND 0 — Lukas Showman, Gavin Rummel, Bryson Bankosh and Ethan Russell each scored a goal as the Vikings blanked the Scotties in a Section 5-2A match.
Tyke Snyder added two assists and Grant Zahrobsky and Gavin Jackovitz had one each for Mount Pleasant.
BETH-CENTER 16, CALIFORNIA 2 — Parker Amos poured in eight goals and Ryder Roule added five in the Bulldogs’ Section 2-A victory over the Trojans (0-8, 0-10).
Beth-Center (2-5-1, 2-8-1) also got one goal apiece from Kaleb Amos, Trent Roule and Smith Arbuckle.
RINGGOLD 3, LAUREL HIGHLANDS 2 — Joshua Molisee scored twice as the Rams (4-0-2, 6-2-2) beat the Mustangs (1-4-1, 2-6-1) in a Section 2-3A match.
Laurel Highlands trailed 2-1 in the second half when Elliott Boor scored to tie it with 25 minutes left, but Molisee put Belle Vernon ahead to stay with his second goal with five minutes remaining.
UNIONTOWN 4, MCKEESPORT 0 — The Red Raiders blanked the Tigers in a non-section match. Uniontown scored all four of its goals in the second half.

BELLE VERNON 8, UNIONTOWN 0 — Deaulla Lightfoot had a hat trick as the Lady Leopards scored all their goals in the first half in defeating the Lady Raiders in a Section 3-3A match.
GIRLS TENNIS
MOUNT PLEASANT 5, JEANNETTE 0 — The Lady Vikings wrapped up Section 1-2A play with a sweep of the Lady Jayhawks.
Singles winners for Mount Pleasant were Ryleigh Drzal, Autumn Jurkovic-Kuzma and Hailey Brown.
Doubles winners for the Lady Vikings were Megan Bullock and Danica Trainer, and Hannah Shawley and Chloe Zelmore.
CONNELLSVILLE 5, LATROBE 0; PENN-TRAFFORD 3, CONNELLSVILLE 2 — The Lady Falcons split a pair of Section 1-3A matches, sweeping the Lady Wildcats on Monday then falling to the Lady Warriors in a tight battle on Tuesday.
